Is notation reversed for different sides of the board? It appears that way but are there different types of notation depending on league or game?

Notation is absolute (i.e. b2 is always b2, c3 always c3, etc.). The numbers go according to white's view of the board (lower numbers are closer, earlier letters are toward the left).

Great! Thanks, its still going to take some getting used to so I can just ramble off notated moves but at least I'm starting to understand it.
