Tiesto...

I saw him first somewhere late 1998 on a small party in Amsterdam. Nobody ever heard of him. 3 months later he was BIG. Innercity februari 1999. A classic set, true magic!

Them one year of total Tiesto domination. The guy was HOT. Gouryella. Remixes. Sets.

Than the year 2001: At a schoolparty in Amsterdam (on a thursday in the Kremlin) he played for 2 hours. Not the trance he played the months before. No: commercial, easy mixable, boring tracks. Why? Because of the students?

He totally screwed up his set. No dancing. Nothing. Pure drama!

The people on the dancefloor were bored. The common feeling that night: 'Tiesto is getting his money anyway, he hates the spoiled students who probably wont 'understand' his music etc etc"


After that, my love for Tiesto was gone. Someone who plays trance because he loves music will always do his best to do a kickass set. Whatever the location, whatever the crowd.

Tiesto isnt like Paul van Dyk. That man IS trance, loves trance, thinks trance, eats trance.

It's just my view, but I bet more people have noticed!!!

I agree that Tiesto has gone downhill since he changed his style.
What I don't agree with is that PvD "is trance, loves trance, ..."
PvD prefers not to use the term "trance" at all, it embarasses him and he wants to be "cool" by avoiding this terrible term. He prefers the term "electronic music" instead.
