Haven't read this one in particular and it's not his major work, but most likely it's very good. And yes, they reject psychoanalysis and other top-down theories and rely on a bottom-up approach instead. Neoformalism isn't supposed to be a dogma, constant reevaluation of the theories is an integral part of it.
