It’s pretty chill. It might be different if you’re living in an area where ICE is doming people in the street though.

My wife told me that Bas (an OG TAer on here) actually witnessed ICE abducting/arresting/detaining to people. Instead of calling the cops, he called the news station. I guess one of them was eventually released. Hearing this second hand from her but she's going to show me the IG page this evening after work. Big shoutout to him for doing so. Many people have a tendency to stay complacent. I'm ashamed to say I'd probably not do anything as well.

Here in Los Angeles, I feel like many minorities are on alert. City associated Reddit pages are posting alerts if they see ICE active in certain areas. There's a huge population of minorities here in LA, many legal but many illegal as well. There is definitely a sense of fear and hatred right now.

ICE was very present with their Gestapo commander present earlier last year but I feel like most of their resources are in Minnesota. I feel like it's mostly political as their Governor has been vocal about the president and the "fraud" that's been happening with day cares (or some shit like that).

There certainly are (seemingly) credible allegations of fraud involving Somali daycares, and it wouldn't surprise me if that were the case. However, the individual involved in exposing this alleged fraud has a dismally low level of intelligence and can barely cobble together a sentence in his native language. The video he put out "investigating" the fraud proved effectively nothing.

There's a great reddit thread on "ask reddit" about people who know or who have known people in ICE. The consensus was that the people who knew ICE from years before thought of them as being decent people. Some even disliked have to detain people. Up until 6 months ago though, it completely changed where they're all assholes, bullies, etc.

But would you guys say there is a relatively quiet majority of people in the US who believe both of the following?

-That people who are in the country illegally, especially those with a past of serious crimes, should be shipped back to their countries of origin, and

-That ICE is going about it the wrong way.

When you have to try and form an image of the atmosphere there based on news and social media alone, it can be really hard to tell whether there's a population at all that supports a sensible middle-ground.

I think I understand your question and I'll try to answer from a personal perspective.

- I for one would prefer that illegal immigrants, WHO have committed major crimes, should be shipped back or not allowed. There should definitely be some sort of due process behind it though.

- I think the current methods being performed by ICE are wrong.


I think I'm inline with the average American. I just weighed myself and can confirm. Ooof.
