I used to be into rap in a big way back in the early 90's but Rap just got worse and worse.. As corny as it sounds, old school rap was much better than most Rap put out today....

I think of most Rap today as a britney spears version of Rap

Nothing beats the harder and much more original rap of ICE-T, Public Enemy, Erik B & Rakim, Jungle Bros, Tribe called quest, NWA, etc...

But I don't listen to much Rap today so I'm no expert on it, I'm sure if I gave it more listening I could find some good Rap....

Trance can be as manufactured and produced and cheezy as MTV rap, Rap can be as underground cool, authentic and groovy as Trance can be.

The point is, I don't really like much rap (mainly what i like is funky hip-hop (the crazy, thoughtfult tunes of Deltron 3030 anyone? if you haven't heard it, you should, it could change completely your perception of hip-hop) however to criticize rap in the way that some of the first posts do (and i admit i haven't read every single response (all 9 pages of them ) as cheezy and produced and predictable, is not to take a very objective view about the music which most of the people on this board listen to ( I assume ) because trance has the same potential to suck at times for exactly the same reasons.. you wouldn't want some one to judge you and the music you listened to based on what most people who don't listen to electronic music think of when they think of electronic music ... atb venga boys, etc. etc. etc. etc. (which i'm sure all of you have delt with at some point in the past ... )

anyway i hope haven't angered anyone, I just had to vent that ...
and heres to this thread disappearing into oblivion and never coming back to haunt us..

cant say i agre this time tave. i like rap. emienem was the biggest sellin single artist of 2000 so up urs tavey. not many will bak me up but im into all types of music. lots of rap is just rediculously shit but D.R.E n eminem have some uter brilliant stuff out!!!!

as long as u people are happy wyth the kind of music u listen to u are cool and so keep it that way and dont tell others to listen to it if they dont like it.

some of you ppl hate rap like other ppl hate trance. i often hear people say "what the fuck is that shit your listening to" they just dont understand. we may say the exact same thing about rap. everyone has their own tastes.
