but here are my favorite stats (from 2002):

Oakland - total payroll: $39,679,746 - avg salary: $1,469,620
Yanks - total payroll: $126,000,000 - avg salary: $4,342,365

now to me neither one is acceptable, but oakland is much closer to it. i dont think entertainers should be making more than professors or nurses personally, but there's not much to be done about it.

this is where capitalism rears it's ugly head...

i think youre putting the blame on the wrong people...now i cant exactly blame an athlete who used to be piss poor taking home an ungodly amount of money...i'd put blame on the owners offering so much to begin with...

now is this money absurd especially when firefighters and nurses deserve it much more than athletes? of course it is...but since the market allows players to have this type of opportunity, then so be it...
