I gotta agree with most objective people here, not the ones that are easily amused by well-recognized tracks and squeal "OMG, I die!"... ugh....
The set was 5/10... He did play some great tunes but PvD was not his usual self. The set definitely lacked any flow, tunes were overplayed (if I hear "nothing but you again" I am going to kill someone - I swear!)... The place was packed like a mofo ... for a second I also could have sworn I was in Twilo... not because of the vibe but because of the tight-as-shit packed place. No room to dance, meathead factor was well above the tollerance level (like 300% over the norm) and for the first time in my life I felt claustrophobic!
I don't know - for me it was one of "forgettable" moments... So many people wasted on all kinds of shit, scarry...
As an aspiring electronic musician, I find it sad that so many people use ilicit substances to appreciate the music. It almost makes me sad...
What also reminded me of Twilo is the fact that more than 50% of people seemed to be Asian...
Overall, I wish I didn't go on Friday and went to see Armin on saturday... but since I didn't get much sleep - Sat was out of the question for me.
I guess this was one of those times when Pure PvD could not impress the "purists".... sorry. |
what did you think, the #2 dj is in town, you think the place will be empty? THIS "THE NIGHT SUCKED, COZ IT WAS TOO PACKED" bullshit needs to stop!!!! why don't you look at it as , paul gave us an INCREDABLE set instead of being negative about the night coz it was TOO PACKED

Re: Re: Bleh... sorry
if ur any seasoned clubber at all, you would have known that this night has been much anticipated in NY for months now, with its dying club scene. i knew it was gonna be packed, and it was all good. I've been to worse like PVD@Exit (thank god for VIP) and regular nites at Exit when it used to be banging. Literally it took an hour to get across the Red Room and the room was only 30 ft long.
seriously, ill admit its easy to predict what PVD is gonna drop. Like Forrest Gump said, "Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what ur gonna get." But thats why we keep going back to listen to him. we love what he drops (although he def needs to stop droppin NBY). why is it better to listen to PVD live in a club? cuz its much better to feel the energy of all the people around u yelling and screaming and dancing rather than just turning up ur System at home our in ur car. so dont complain it was too packed.
if its really all about the music close your eyes and use your ears. if u dont wanna do that keep ur eyes on the DJ and dont look around.
why is trance successful in Europe? cuz its mostly instrumental. no words mean its universal. it means it reaches every mind despite the language barrier. trance can touch every person without having to use any words to express it.
/rant off
pvd also dropped:
Igor S - Boomerang

Sorry, but I cant agree. The fact that the place was incredibly over crowded ruined my night. Maybe if the club had some AIR and less people I wouldnt be so bitter. Than people were smoking on the dancefloor where it was already hard enough to breathe - contributing to the loss of air and adding to the heat that was building infinately. Lastly, the sound in the club sucked ass.
When I go out to a club, I want to know that I will have a good time, being comfortable and able to move around a bit without wanting to knock someone the fuck out because they keep banging into me and trying to get in front on me.
Alot of you people are so swelled up with the idea that PVD is playing that you forget about the atmosphere around you. Im sorry but Im not that type of person, no matter who it is.
PVD got a 9/10 - He did what he gets paid to do, he played a great set.
Roxy got a 3/10 - Ugh. Thats all I have to say.
