They are talking about doing the same in NYC here in the States. Would be cool but unlikely to happen.

Okay, I can see London replacing Silverstone, Silverstone has been in trouble for years for having pretty crappy facilities (apparently, haven't actually been there to find out). Not to mention that doesn't Brands Hatch actually own the rights to the UK GP, but they lease it to Silverstone? (could be wrong about that, but am sure I heard it somewhere)

NYC street circuit, good idea, but where is it going to fit in? Replace Indianapolis - not bloody likely!!! Besides, Bernie has talked about having two US GPs (in an East/West setup like years gone past), so what else is it going to replace? The only one that springs to mind is Belgium, but there is so much F1 history there, now that it is back I don't see them dropping it without a very good reason. European - not likely while Schumacher is going so well.

The only one I can think of dropping and would accept dropping is San Marino - but then so much history (especially Senna, sadly missed) and close to Ferrari land (I think)

In addition, we have Russia coming in soon, so adding NYC I think is a very long way off, too many events with not enough opportunity to drop historical events.

Silverstone has history can't get rid of that even though as you said it has poor facilities. I think for the second US Gp they should hold it at the Laguna Seca circuit, somewhere exciting and different would be interesting to f1. Spa is the peak performance and abilities of F1, imo i wouldnt change it.

However, the ones that could possibly go are Hungaroring? waste of space for f1 imo. And yes the european gp, i think it should go basically because it doesn't live up to all the other tracks in account of facilities and performance (boring).

the facilities at Laguna Seca are even worse than at Silverstone, so i don't think that's an option.


19 events are scheduled for next year, with Turkey added to the calendar. so at the moment none of this year's circuits will disappear.. there is some speculation however, that San Marino will loose its slot. if it's not next year, it'll definitely be gone by 2006. and the French and Canadadian GP could be scrapped off the calendar as well by that time.

I think Silverstone along with Spa are the most impressive races of any season so they should remain. Hungary oought to be scrapped since it is consistently the most boring race of the season.

Exactly, it's no secret that they are looking seriously at replacing some of the less popular races, and a couple more street races would definetly bring a lot of attention (and ultimatly revenue) to the sport.

If they do eventually get rid of Silverstone (which, regardless of its history, has been considered a lot in recent years), they'd be fools not to provide an alternative UK event due to the popularity of F1 over here.

^ i agree. the problem is Silverstone is the only circuit with facilities that more or less meet the FIA requirements. Brands Hatch and Donington are less suitable for the F1 circus. and Knockhill isn't really an option is it

but you're right, it's a shame Bernie is trying to get rid of Silverstone.. i love the circuit, it's got lots of different and challeging corners.. and above all, quite a number of overtaking possibilities.

It should be dropped though imo.

The Nurburg race will remain as long as Schumi is kicking arse as he comes from close to that area. It too should be dropped though imo.

It would be financial suicide, and probably cause the formation of the WGPC real quick if there was no UK event, think about, where do the majority of teams come from? Not to mention that F1M is a British based organisation, and the majority of English speaking countries get their coverage from ITV (a British network)

The best way to reduce the really hectic schedule is to increase the duration of the season, have it start earlier and finish later.

Just got back from Silverstone and watching it from Abbey you could definitely tell that Kimi was on it. Jenson looked OK through Abbey but didn't make you think 'this is a good lap' like when Kimi went through. Should be an interesting race as Schumacher won't be able to get the holeshot and then disappear for the rest of the race.

i don't know about you guys, but my money's on Schumi. he won all but 1 race; it's like a no-brainer! in truth tho, i'd like to see Reubens take 1 for himself; he can do it.
