Just wondering, have you guys actually tried to contact the management at Guv about these complaints?

I made the mistake at Decadence of entering through the Guv doors because the entry seemed to be a lot faster.... I WANTED to be in the KH, but the line (inside) to go from the Guv through the Orange room into the KH was just stupid.. I was stuck chest to chest with people pushing and shoving for almost an hour! Isn't there any other way around this and did this happen again at Sasha?

For someone who hasn't been to Guv in a while and does not partake of recreational activities, would it still be a good time? Serious question, sometimes the crowd is way too packed and f&$%ed up for the sober among you.
Would going to the next Tiesto or whatever be worth the money if that were the case? |
Give it a whirl... As the saying goes don't knock it till ya try it or something like that.. LOL.. I have a few passes to spin saturday's if ya want em (but i don't think they'll work for special event nights)

I thought Decadence was great and there was sooooooo much room at KH I don't remember who was playing in the main room but who ccares? :All the big names were at KH |
wtf!?!?!?
Mate, you're even contradicting yourself!!!
please go back and read our posts, that's the whole point:
it doesn';t need rocket science so understand this:
The GUV complex =Guv main room + KH
KH =bigger capacity, much better ventilation, etc etc =suitable for a headliner/ big name dj
main room does not have the capacity to hold that many ppl, not on a
regular saturday but @ a big event.
why is this so hard to understand for you guys?
who's decision is it to put Sasha in guv main room and dj dan, etc in KH?
doesn't it make sense to put sasha (who's more popular) in the bigger venue? well if you say no , then i'm sorry nothing we can do to make you ppl understand.
if the guv complex didn't have KH (aka wharehouse , god knows how much they spent renovating that) then it would be justified to say: "well, like it or not that's at good at it gets, stay home, blah blah blah" but they CAN and they DON'T.
why on earth they don't use KH anymore?
can anyone answer that question?

Underground is when you get a photocopied flier for some little illegal backalley party that nobody knows about except maybe a few hundred people. Guv never has been underground.
Guv has been and still is a place to go to hear the best cutting edge music the world has to offer. Is the place perfect? No. But some of the complaints on here are rediculous. There are some very valid points made but some complainers are so rediculous that its scary (such as people invading their circle clique or people bitching about whistlers).
I think half the problem is honestly in the attitude of half the people here. If you just went for the music like you say you do you wouldnt care what was going on. I do go for the music and as ive said before, ive been in venues so packed that it would make guv look like a swimming pool in february. Did i care? Not at all! In fact it added to the fun in some aspects. I was there for the music and that was it.
I know im going to get flamed for this, but i find many people on this board to be some of the most closed minded souls ive ever come across. This music sucks that music sucks... this club is the best and that one isnt so fuck you etc etc. Lighten up people! Go to wherever floats your boat, enjoy it for what it is and then go home. Nowhere is perfect and if u expect perfection you will never get it. Guv is not for everyone, neither is boa nor system. Its all in personal choice. So stop going to venues you dont like and then bitching about it for a week after. If a Dj goes to a club you dont like you know what to expect. So go for the dj and the music and dont let it bother you. If it bothers you as much as you claim, stay home and put that DJs CD on. In the past there have been clubs i dont particularly like and ive taken my own advice and come out much further ahead.
And one more thing. You know when us older people talk about the good old days and the glory days of raves and parties? Well guess what? They were sweaty, unairconditioned, dirty, overpacked warehouses and every second person was blowing a whistle. The vibe was incredible and we had the time of our lives. You kids wouldnt last a second in 1990, or even 1996 for that matter. |
This is possibly the first comment i have ever agreed with you on jax1, guv is a world class club and i have never had a bad time no matter how much i feared for my life in a fire hazard situation.... suck it up you bitches or stay home... or better yet come out and here mark on a saturday night who will on a regular basis out preform any top international dj.

Word to the wise, Einsten - when you promote for a club, it's usually a bad idea to try and cut up the people who have complaints. Especially when there are SO MANY who have complaints.
Not that I'd expect you to actually take an interest in other clubs, but did you read my review from Boa last week? I'm pretty sure I did not say one bad word in there, and I've had nothing but praise for Danny after that party. Mind you, I distinctly remember praising Sasha too - just not the Guv.
Aside from the select few "Guvaholics" on this forum who are there every Saturday like clockwork and who I don't even bother to listen to anymore, it's no coincidence that the majority of people who militantly defend the Guv are newbie partiers who haven't really been to a lot of "great" events. I myself used to be a Guv defender in my earlier days, and several people on the forum may remember this; what changed my attitude was having the chance to experience a few great parties, events that were truly memorable (in a GOOD way).
You think we're spoiled brats? I had to pinch myself at Boa to make sure I wasn't dreaming. I've had a lot of fun at System Soundbar. I've had blissful nights at Viva. I've had fun at small jams and get-togethers and house parties and, as you so aptly put it, several events taking place "in my friend's basement." Hell, I can remember having the time of my life grooving to Kenny Ken at Turbo, even though it was hot and smelly and crowded and had sweat dripping from the ceiling pipes. I even remember having a good night when one of my friends pulled me out of system to go an ordinary local jungle jam at a club whose name I don't even remember anymore, I was sweating buckets after 6 seconds but damn, it was FUN.
So for someone who's so damn "picky" about his parties I'd say I've had some pretty fucking varied experience. The truth is, you don't need a popular DJ or fancy lights or hundreds of people pumping their fists or any of that shit that Guv offers in order to have a good time, you just need a vibe. And no, you don't "make your own vibe", it doesn't work that way. Either you're in an environment where people have checked their egos at the door along with their coats, or you're surrounded by stuck-up barbie dolls and sketch pads who probably wouldn't come out of their stupor if they got hit in the face with a brick - or maybe just by ordinary folks who are simply bored and boring.
Guv equals lack of respect. Lack of respect for personal safety. Lack of respect for personal space. Lack of respect for people's own health and that of those around them. Girls I talk to feel like pieces of meat in there, and guys I talk to feel like ants.
Call us spoiled if you want, Jay, but a good promoter should and would instead be saying "we are mindful of your complaints and we are working on it."

For tiesto he said in a interview they had to reject about 1000 people in the guv
Are the promoters so stupid not to relize who draws? Once again why the hell are the big names always in the main room when they got dj dan, etc who are not even close as popular in the KH warehouse.
Anyways with all these complaints i think someone should seriously email the owners, it does nothing on this board.
