Call this club and get me all the prices ( tickets, liquor, water , etc) and its max. capacity and the difference in DJ Fee between a techno DJ and Ferry; I will make you an detailed excel spreadsheet to further prove my point.

Its very logical Laushinameee more people attending means more money. As you said yourself, Paul Van Dyk booked Ferry for that very reason; more people showing up. I gave you a very simple mathematical formula to prove why this is good business decision.

Maybe your just don't want to admit that Paul Van Dyk ,the DJ you admire and respect, has 'sold out'. Don't be too surprised though. He is a married 35 years old man and is trying to making a living off of this occupation. This is his main source of income. It would be very hard for anyone in that situation not to sell out. Don't feel to bad.

Remember what I said before, business and art are very difficult to co-exists. When business takes a priority the art suffers. When art takes the priority business suffers.

piazza > your arbitrary figures dont prove anything

you all need to look at the bigger picture, but youre so blinkered into what you think is right, and of what you think of me.

I'm simply telling you that tiesto & corsten are bookings that are made to fill the club up. This is a plain and simple fact whether or not you people choose to accept it. Yes it is 'selling out' of a sort, but you fail to see the bigger picture.

Its not quite the same as ferry corsten = more money. Not at all, as there is a lot more output in terms of cash initially, and a greater risk.

Psiweaver > i'd stay out of this if i were you. You clearly dont have much of a clue about the situation, nor do you know anything about my musical tastes. So your post makes little sense in this discussion... what opinion am i making out to be a fact? how am i saying anything but pvd = shit?? ive not once said that at all? no it makes no sense, sorry dipshit.

I think your a very intellgent person who knows alot about dance music. Even though at times you can come off as rude in how you express your opinions and ideas, I still respect you for your insight and knowledge. I enjoy debating topics with you because unlike others you know what the fuck your talking about and when your wrong you have a very clever way if making it seem your right

Hopefully you understand my point of view and can draw the same conclusion as I have.

yeh i can totally see where everyone is coming from but ive seen it all before.

At LFA this year i was speaking to a friend of PvD (a british dj, thats all im prepared to say) - and whilst PvD went off to the other room to see timo maas instead of tiesto, i was talking to the guy & asked him about the whole 'tiesto thing'. I was told that contrary to PvD's public 'i respect him, hes a friend' attitude, in fact the only reason he associates with him is to guarantee a full room on LFA night... i mean, tiesto the worlds number 1 dj doesnt even get vandit promo material, yet people like edgar v do

far from analyzing PvD's thought processes, thats where i draw the line. I dont know the motivation for it, but thats all i know. I find it hard to believe that it can be about money 100% but sure it plays a part. With LFA there is two rooms with tiesto, timo maas, moguai, nu nrg etc etc its a large large bill to fit - and yet the door price is VERY low.

maybe its something just as simple as PvD wants to play to a full club and he doesnt care if they are genuine fans or not?? but anyway, im not attempting to guess what i dont know.

but what i do know stands. having a dj play for PvD is not a sure way of saying, yeah he respects that artist fully - theres always a lot of behind the scenes shit going on that we dont know about, and people on here seem to be far too naieve to that possibility. its more than a possibility though, it is actually true.

If PvD books Ferry because then he would earn the most money in the end and not because he thinks it's best for the music and he doesn't really like Ferry, is that selling out? Maybe a little i think, but they have to do that sometimes because it's hard to make good profit in the music industry. Well i can accept that, it's their job, they need to make enough money to make their company's prosper, so they can do good things for the music. For me it doesn't make me respect them less, in the end they all care the most for the music and also don't like doing things this way.

I don't know if this is what happened here, because i don't have enough facts about the situation after reading this thread, and i think you would have to be PvD to know.

PvD has sold out by booking ferry according to your argument Laushinamee.

Or theres the argument where Ferry is a good DJ and PvD respects him and is booking him to help him get more exposure in Germany or because he wants to spin with him.

Just like Armin and *GASP* Paul van Dyk. Any DJ that makes the top ten, especially the top five, and even one who makes it to the second-most-sought-after-spot in EDM is going to be booked "to fill the club up."

i prefer the 2nd point because you can't fill a club in germany while booking just Ferry...
