As for the expanding horizons discussion, I remember back when I listened exclusively to trance, I wasn't a huge elitist but perhaps a bit of one, and three things made me change my mind:

• Discovering what house actually was (I'd been listening to progressive trance, and that's what put me to sleep)
  
• Learning to dance (house, especially tribal, is so so right for getting your groove on)
  
• House event vibe is friendlier. Period.
