I find that many musicians who play styles of music that are commonly not considered cheesy, in fact do sound the same, and recycle themselves very often. I guess the esiest example of this I could use is sasha and digweed. No, I'm not calling S&D cheese, but you would have to be living under a rock to no realize that every time they change their sound half of the world emulates it. When S&D moved to dirty dark prog a few months later it dominated dance floors, when they moved to the electro rockish proggish mix up they are on now I could pick out a great many mixes that used tracks that they played. I think being yet another DJ who copies sasha and digweed is cheesy, but not many other people seem to agree because they are blinded by all the "monumental contributions" they have made to the scene.
And I'm still hearing the the same kind of sounds from Tony De Vit - Global Underground #1, yet miraculously it is still not cheesy, how!? |
On the previous page I wrote a lenghy definition of what cheese can be. I said cheese can come in many forms, i.e. cheesey trance cheesey techno, etc.
The focus in this thread is cheesey trance. Why? Becuase 1) its a trance forum 2) this is where more interest is for memebers of this forum ( I would be glad to talk about cheesey techno or cheesey prog. but I would go off topic).
