Pope or not, nobody is perfect. The thing that really bothers me about this is that people who claim to be Catholics in passing now feel the need to act like "good" Catholics, when, in a few weeks time, they'll just go back to their normal "sinful" (according to the Chruch) ways of life. It just smacks of hypocrisy and takes away from people who really do fully believe in all this stuff.

yeah, I know a couple too. It doesn't mean they're bad people but I usually feel the need to call them on it since I'm non religious, but at least consistent in my behaviours and attitudes.

wow. man, thats such a good point and so true. how the fuck can u justify that to yourself, in all honestly.

serious, id be interested to hear whut ppl would use as a defense for assuming that behaviour (ie. not caring if u party on good friday, but then finding it absurd to think about partying after the pope dies)

This entire pope hysteria is totally fueled by the media portrayal.

Like get this, if you watch the sitcom friends with the laugh soundtrack in tact, you'll prolly laugh.

Watch it without the laughs and you won't even break a smile.

The news creates a mournful atmosphere surrounding his death, holding him in such high light that many people never held him in. Yeah, he's a great guy and deserves respect, but it's AWEFULLY hipocritical for people to cry for him despite ever giving a rats ass before.

THE TEARS (for the most part) ARE MANUFACTURED. JUST LIKE YOU (not everybody, the majority of the television watching population).
