Jem Rev [Part 1]
Well guys, time to FINALLY start my fucking review.
I honestly don’t even know where to bloody begin. Hmm, how about he beginning. Ali came and picked my ass up around 9pm and I was so pumped! The party was about to get started! When I arrive, it’s just the 5 of us, Me, Nada, Ali, Matt and Andrea (Nada’s friend with the killer deadly cut across her face from some crash Green Day concert shenanigans!).
Slowly the ppl start to trickle in and the fucking party gets going. Honestly, I was so drunk at this party all weekend long I don’t remember nearly what I wish I remembered. I remember dancing a lot. I remember sing ALOUD A LOT to the best music I have ever hear in my life. I remember double fisting and always drinking beer. I remember being yelled at (A LOT) for making the decks skip from my dancing. I remember being on the couches and the tables and the stole trying to pretend I was jay and dancing A LOT! LOL
And all these just from Friday night. I remember what I’d like to call the best weekend of 2005. This topped WEMF. Our TOTA DJs held it down like fucking professionals, like they ALWAYS DO!!!!!!!!! I’m glad we fucking have and recognize all this talent, because HOLY SHIT, we ARE lucky bastards!
Since I’m ranting about DJs, the set (and resulting vibe) of the weekend goes to fucking Mobius and Stilez!
Anyone who was around me DURING their set and anyone around me on Sunday, knows how much I truly enjoyed them. I cannot say enough shit about these 2 guys. First time seeing them spin and they blew the fuck outta my mind. Honestly, when they walked on, the vibe seemed to just change in the room… everyone was like “Mobius and Stilez are finally here…” it was like EVERYONE just knew whut that meant was coming and I felt that and got pumped myself.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard better skills on the decks than these two. They are the cream of the crop AFAIAC… the whole time I was dancing I felt like I was rocking it out to some huge international DJ and at a billion points in the night while they were on, I really lost myself and felt like I was in a club somewhere just going crazy. You two guys were PHENOMENAL.
This is not to berate or downplay fucking ANYONE else that spun! Matt and Nate! What can I saw, I’m glad more TOTAs FINALLY got a chance to hear your music! It’s about time – “Marshall & Goulet* for life! Im always ready to go for you guys and I’m glad you got to play your shit for us at this party!
Rayray… dude, Raymond, what can I say? IF I *EVER* get into house, I can say it was because of you! You’re sets blow me away, you, dude, are an act of your own. I dunno about this funny-business you were telling me about on Sunday morning (ie. that you’ll give me SIX MONTHS before Im 100% a house-head and no longer a trance-head), but dude, if it happens, I give YOU the honour of claiming to be the person that caused the switch over. Your blend of house sounds (which I may add wasn’t even in full effect since u left your CDs at home… so just imagine if he’d had his CDs TOO!! OMG! I DIE!) is crazy. I love it when you drop that tribal shit!!! FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!
To the other DJs, there were so many! Congrats on a great job!! You guys really did make this party! I hope yall recognize this! We TOTALLY fucking appreciate what you do! I sure as hell do! This music is my passion and you guys bring it to me!!!
(Part 1 end, Part 2 coming…)

What an intense weekend that was
Mad props to you Nada for all the hard work I know you put into this weekend. Everything ran so silky smooth I have to ask do you do plan corporate events .
Also I huge thank you to Ali for all his help in keeping this weekend running perfectly. I know you did a lot of the stuff behind the scenes man thank you.
I got to thank Dan for all his help in making this weekend a reality.
I’d also like to thank everyone who attend you definitely made that weekend one not soon forgotten.
SO THIS IS MY STORY
I finish work an hour later then planned on Friday cause we had two employees delayed cause the ghetto TO weather problems, which put me behind on getting to the cottage earlier . I got ready picked up Highroller at Yonge and Finch and we both headed up.
So were talking and I remember I didn’t get directions and ask him if he did as Murphy would have it Graham didn't have any either. He checks my phone and manages to get hold of Nada to get some directions. So all is good it would seem.
We get to Collingwood with out delay around 1 am and get to GREY 19. We go down it only to find out we’ve somehow gone down the wrong road. How is this possible we both think because the road were on says Grey 19. So Graham calls Nada again (who just might be a little under the influence by now ) and gets us redirected. We turn around and head back and see Grey 19 on the left side and take it. Yes, were on another road called Grey 19. So we follow that for a good 15 minutes before Graham says “Jay, I think were on the wrong Grey 19”. More time lost. We head back and run into another road Grey 19 (I’m not that intelligent, but even I know you don’t name every fackin road Grey 19). So of course this is also not the correct Grey 19 either. We go to use my phone only to discover the battery is just about dead. It turns out even Murphys laws can run out cause we find the right Grey 19 and make it to the cottage. There is flashing lights coming from the cottage. This is the phone call that ensues.
Graham “Nada is there flashing lights at the Cottage?”
Nada “Yes there is. Park behind the red car there”
There is a red car there so I park behind it. We get out grab our liquor and head into this massive cottage. We head in and hear good beats banging up stairs so we head up and feast our eyes on a party. Problem was it wasn’t our party it was some random party we just walked into. Being black everyone starts to eye me and assume the worst is about to happin (jk). Everyone stops and looks at us then some guy walks up to me and asks if he knows me. Then some random guy comes up to me and asks me if I’m on his baseball team. Dude I know we all look the same but on your baseball team come on lol . We leave what looked like a good party and head out again to find our party. Of course we got lost again, but someone felt sorry for us and we eventually found the cottage an hour later.
We get there to find just about everyone of there rocker dancing to beats. I knew then and there that this weekend was gonna be nothing but gt’s. I got my stuff and a group of us claimed a room and then proceed to drink ourselves stupid. Can’t really remember what time the tunes had to get shut down, but damn were they good. Everyone who didn’t crash after that just basically chilled around till the early morning. Don’t remember going to bed that night but I seemed to wake up instantly when I heard talk of food. Woke up and went into town with Jamie and crew for some kick ass breakfast at the Collingwood diner. Got back to the cottage and just chilled out to sick beats and waited for the rest of the army to arrive.
Got the good news that my girl Lars was finally in Stayner and me and Jamie went to get our girl and more needed beer. Came back and just danced like a fool to the insane beats of collective dj’s. I then got to witness one of my favorite memories of the whole weekend: dinner. Watching everyone helping and interacting with each other at dinner was simply remarkable. Huge props to everyone who contributed to getting dinner ready and cleaning up afterwards.
With a full belly out of the way the only thing left on the list was to get as many beers into me as humanly possible. The night just continued to reach new highs of ecstasy. Fun times in tossing the football around with everyone after dinner and just being crazy. After the music had to be taken down stairs I swear that’s when the real party animals in everyone began. It was so awesome to be down there with everyone in that type of CZ – sketch environment. I just wish the party never ended but there are only so many hours in a day I guess. Got a bit of sleep woke up and unhappily had to say good bye to the people, the party, and the cottage .
Thanks you Jamie for letting us all chill at your house after the cottage for some much needed chill out time.
And lost but certainly not least a huge THANK YOU to everyone who spun for us all. Every one of you did an amazing good and should be congratulated. Ray thank you for the good quality house tunes you dropped and the name brother darkness will forever be etched in my brain .
I want to send a enormous shout out to everyone who attended again cause you all rock. Make my poor tormented black soul happy again and e-mail a brother [email protected] .
I can’t wait till next year only 362 more days to go .
p.s pics coming soon
