Sgt. Klowne reporting for a proper review! (finally )
This was my first time attending a themed party and actually participating in the festivities...And I must say that this party was probably the most fun I've had in a while. The fact that it was a Military Ball added so much enjoyment to the overall experience. I decided to go all out with everything matching, although at first I thought I over did it by adding war paint..Let me tell you, it was extremely uncomfortable and embarassing taking the TTC and streetcar downtown.. I got stares of disgust, surprise, and I even overheard being made fun of in another language! lol. After warming up the feet at the barebackers' global village (people), I made my way down to Sonic, and got in without hassle at approximately 2 am. Decorations! First thing that caught my eyes were the wonderful decorations! The deco staff went all out with this themed party....nets, lots of fake greenery, including bush (not that kind, you dirty minded freaks), green lights, and even the disco ball was wrapped to be slighty hidden. I was so hyped up at one point during the night that I jumped up, grabbed some bush, and gave it as a gift to Miluska . The mixed crowd was expected; a good amount of 'boys' out, as well as tons of beautiful women, most of which were dressed up in army gear. As many have mentioned, this was tres hot! Legs! I cannot stress how much I admire legs and fishnet stockings. Crowdedness wasn't much of a factor, and the place contained a good amount of patrons even at 8 am. Heat wasn't a factor for me; wearing a Steve hat for the first time, it kept my head sweat contaminated for most part. Not wearing jeans took my dancing to whole new levels! I could move quicker, stretch out easily, and manipulate my electrosexual movements better, lol. Shaked it for most of the night, rarely taking any breaks, and decided to head to CoZo at around 8:30 am. It was strange not staying until the end...I haven't done this since my earlier Sonic nights.
The battlefield was nothing without the beats and rhythms. I managed to catch most of Sean Miller's set, and it was most pleasing. He hasn't let me down since his opener for Satoshi, which shed a whole new light on my opinion of him. It was a very typical set, usual progressive style of his. Good tunes, none of which really caught my attention because it was all delicious. I thought the themed party would encourage him to play a bit differently, but I'm not really complaining. He did manage to drop a great tune that I had yet to hear him play live...and it was also a fav of Karina's (she missed it, pffft!) I don't know the ID, but the track is apparently called "Fakin'"
I know that you're dirty, I know that you're fakin'.
Got me prancing around a little bit more than usual .
This was my 3rd time checking out Demi, and his past sets had either been on or off for me. It seems everytime I hear a set of his, he always focuses on a different style of house music. Unless this is my imagination? If it isn't, then I really admire the fact that he takes the time out to carefully plan out his track selection and style for the night, depending on where he's playing and what kind of party it is. This was at least true for his set at Sonic. I was hoping he'd play some disco inspired house and some funky stuff. Fortunately, his opening track was one of these He played alot of funky stuff, but there was alot of variety to his set. He surprised me when he shot a cannon of tribal at us for a good while; the battle had some challenge for the feets. I had a blast rocking it out to his set for the most part, but he totally lost me for the last 2 hours that I was there. I wasn't feeling the tech that he was playing; it lacked flavour for me. Also, one of the most annoying aspects of his set that alot of my friends agreed on, was how it was up and down. There would be a massive buildup, and then the ass shaking would kick in, only to be interrupted by another buildup that was longer. This continued for many hours, and to me, it was very unstable sounding. I don't like consistency, but there's only so much time I can withstand riding a rollercoaster. Still, it was a very enjoyable set; my footwork was proof of this. I felt like I was in the 70's at one point, especially considering that he dropped a remake/remix of an awesome classic:
Donna Summer - I Feel Love (Qattara 2004 Mix)
I think it was that exact remix
"Oooooh, it's so good, it's so good, it's so good, it's so GOOD!"
Bwahahaha. I loved how almost all the sonicwhores were there, including the return of many. The TA ladies looked delicious! It was hilarious to witness a bunch of us busting out the old school disco moves as well, haha. Awesome times and danceoffs as per usual..I can't wait until the next themed party.
