Last night was a pretty amazing night. I seriously needed to go out, since I missed Daft Punk on Friday. Martin Roth and Kristina Sky Rocked it, but I needed a little more...
I arrived to Bill Grahm around 9:40 or so. enough time to hear Gilla throw down. Waited in the VIP|Guestlist line for about 20 minutes... Then proceeded inside. Kyo was there, who was like the 4th person to greet me. The first person I saw who meeted me there was DaveT, with several different color wristbands which granted him access all over the place.
Both me and Artimus got some excellent footage from different parts of the civic center and abroad to show off the night. I spend most of my evening amongst friends and fellow addictedsf members that took up area 215.
I was hoping for a great night. After reading up much negativity towards Tiesto, it was good to see that the vibe was building early on, and that everyone was having a great time right from the start. I thought Gilla and Dyloots sets were pretty on point, Tiestos opening montage about the elements of life were pretty cool. I got most of it on Video..
Tiesto has now redeemed himself to me and proven once again why hes in my top 5. I along side many died when he played Gouryella, and Silence. Both Tracks I fondly remember when seeing Tiesto my first times travelling and seeing him numerous times at Gatecrasher and venues overseas. I have been waiting to hear him throw down those tracks, and was seriously secretly wishing to hear them tonight. On the drive up to SF I mentioned to a friend me wanting to hear them.. What would have made his set perfect for me is if he would have replaced He's a pirate with Adagio for Strings. Awsome set overall.. Freakin awsome...
Aside from dancing my ass off (which I havent done in a long time,) I got to meet Gilla, Scott G from Deepsky, and Fei Fei. You guys are awsome and I hope someday to spin with ya sometime. It was excellent meeting you finally too Gilla, I will be showcasing Ultima at my August event for the SF masses!!! I had to pick and choose which parties to go to as everyone invited me to some afterparty of some sort, John Beaver included..
Lighting was pretty cool, with the lack of LF/LP lazers. However there was one individual in the audience with a green lazer that stood out in the crowd. Many people complained about the underage kids running around the arena, but for me It didnt really bother me much. We were all there at one point in our life, its their time now and good to see them experiencing EDM like we did. Lotta people taking pics last night, video, and having fun. No Drama, just a good vibe. The only thing missing was that guy in the bunny suit. Im still wondering how he washes the smell outta that suit from sweating in it..
Some lucky audience member got Tiestos headphones. I thought it was pretty cool to see him throw out his headphones to the audience, like he has done with his Vinyl. I hope that person who got them actually values them.. I know I would.
15 minutes left in Tiesto's set, I sent out a massive txt message to everyone on my phone. Needless to say when I arrived at 1015, the line was already forming from people I txt'd, including many TA's in the house coming through who received my message. Taj played a bangin set till 6AM. The floor was still packed at 5:40AM, and thinned out towards the last 10 minutes of his set. 1015 was rockin last night...
The VIP|Guestlist line... well what can I say. There was an old lady behind the glass who didnt know what the hell was going on I dont think. The other girl behind the glass was cool, she was on point with her lists, and knew which was which. Word of advice.. fire Grandma... But at least the lines are kinda getting better. This time we werent pushed together like packaged q-tips. I kinda did wonder the same thing of how come Gen Admission was going so fast.. PLUS, I didnt like the fact that the security wasnt checking everyone well enough. I for one like to get checked at events. It makes me feel safer. With the amount of people at the venue YOU NEED TO CHECK EVERYONE WHO COMES IN. All it takes is one idiot to make your night go wrong. The security guy who checked me patted my front pocket and my chest, smiled at me and asked me for a cigarette...
I didnt make it out to Endup.. But drove my friends home instead.. Everyone was pretty worn out... But,.. Possibly one of the best weekends I have had this year. Met some excellent people, and had a great time.
Funny moment of the night was walking 3 blocks to the venue, and overhearing some girl say she always sees people with the weirdest outfits at these things...
I looked over at her and she kinda turned red. Considering I had my old school raver pants on last night, I thought it was pretty funny. So did the group of old school ravers I brough last night.. O, and watching all the people come out of the restuarants and other places around the area have the look on their faces like OMG what the hell is that he is wearing.. Haha.
Gilla and Fei Fei, Ill email you those pics I took of you and me last night!!! Ill go through and post what me and Arty took last night too here sometime soon...

Yeah, hiring grandma to run VIP was a huge mistake but luckily they saw the problem and a couple people came out side so move things along with VIP/Guestlist. But its all good and the night was still great. We actually went to Ruby afterwards for an hour or so but were completely exhausted and left at 5am so we never made it to Endup. The dj at Ruby was playing ooooold skool tunes like the funk phenomena, the launch, blow your mind, and kernkraft, and mixing them with current house, lol, but it actually was cool to hear those in Ruby.
And I agree with Blurr in that this was easily one of the best weekends I've had this year.
