How that's the point you got from his posts, I'll never know.

All I got was that he thinks this reflects more poorly on Chris and Dan, and I think it reflects more poorly on DJ Mag, which was shortly followed by the standard "You're an idiot" response rather than anything substantial.

Further, to assume no persons opinion of the poll will change because of this seems ridiculous.

Not really.

It's a lame poll which people have known could easily be exposed. But a poll that in reality is a huge marketing tool used in the scene. DJs know this. But I don't think a lot of these DJs themselves would be stupid enough to have any involvement with any cheating going on because they would (hopefully) know that if they were ever busted, they could potentially be a huge backlash on them. Especially with the DJ Mag poll of all polls, easily the most referred to poll around. That backlash is already occuring, even to a couple DJs who probably should be very high on the list (note CL and Flash Brothers).

Maybe it's just me having a little hope that DJs aren't stupid enough to be involved with this type of behavior. If their marketing management does it and they do a good job, it means that the DJ is more likely to stay with them as the DJ is having success and with that the marketing manager himself/herself makes more money (along with the DJ, of course) as the bookings fees rise.

BTW, I wonder what DJMag is going to do now that it's known they are tracking this type of stuff....and if someone hates some certain DJ and abuses the system just to try to get that DJ disqualified.

everyone is putting this notion forward but mass-voting alone wouldn't be enough for a dj to be disqualified, particularly if they're already well known. if an unheard-of name storms into the top 10 one year then yeah, they probably would get booted out. but in the case of CL & DJ Dan, they're pretty well recognised already so the worst they can probably hope to entail is a points deduction

Def. understandable though why some dj's would cheat on the dj polls. As said it's marketing and stupid promoters that really don't know much about music will look at that list and pretty much just hire from it. I believe Joof had a big discussion on that specific issue last year.

I really hope CL didn't know about what his marketing manager was doing. As said before really chill down to Earth guy who rocks the decks every time. Def deserved to be 5th last year imo. Just sucks cause he was my number one vote.

Hopefully this means end to the poll which is the worst thing to happen to the industry.

This whole thing has left a bad taste in my mouth. I don't know why Dj mag didn't disqualify the votes and be done with it. People are not stupid, they would know something was up when Djs suddenly dropped in the chart.

The way Dj mag has handled it seems too extreme to me.
