overclocking in 2008 has never been easier. as long as you dont fool around with the voltages its virtually impossible to do any damage. smart BIOSs these days will re-set any unstable setting if the PC crashes. my 2.13ghz is at 3.2 (and has been since feb 07) and havent had a single issue with it.

Something that I still keep in my machine as it have saved my arse twice in recent years

I've just accumulated new bits for a secondary media machine for when I move into a new place in July.

As much as I love my machine, it's big and will be moved to the lounge in the new place, but I still want to be able to watch movies/shows in bed.

So I'm using a bunch of second hand stuff to make a little media machine for the bedroom.

Matx Packard Bell case
AMD XP2000
512MB RAM
MS-6511 Mobo
80GB Seagate
20" widescreen TFT that I got for a bargain £60, LOL!

havent seen or used one in 5+ years tho|

so it wont post, no matter how hard i try. i can unplug all my old stuff and the old board POSTs no prob, i think its either hosed or its the power supply. i have already purchased and returned so many power supplys by now its making me crazy.

i tried both sets of mem, both processors, no beeps, no mobo fan, just the PS fan...

now i have to post this comment using IE cuz my firefox keeps locking up. i think i might just load that new HD with xp and ignore the mobo for a bit. ive been staring at it for 10 mins hoping i would find some clue about why it wont work. i moved the bios jumpers to config and removed them completely (recovery mode) but still nothing|

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH VISTA.

Holy fucking Christ.

You realize everyone did the exact same thing when XP came out, right?

That's the argument?

It's ok that this product sucks, because our previous one sucked when it first came out too.

I'll stick w/ Linux.

That's funny, because other than problems I inflicted myself when I was like 12, I've never had any problems with Windows. I'm sick of smug fucking Linux users. I've used Linux, too. It's nothing amazing. I'm not running secret government operations through my computer. I don't need super security. No one's going to hack my computer unless I download something stupid. All of the pro's of Linux are negligible to your average computer user, unless you're so infatuated with the idea of free software or anti-establishment that you have to use it out of principle. I could just as easily customize my shell in Windows as I could Linux, which is really what most people, despite what they may say, use Linux for: the look. Linux = Masturbation.

Hey, you know what else is awesome? I may have to run adaware every once and awhile, but I don't have to download extra programs to be compatible with most of the software out there. It's always Linux and Mac users going, "Waa, why didn't they develop this game for my OS?"

Yes, and it took 2 service packs to sort everything.

I won't touch Vista until I am absolutely forced to

XP fo life!
