You should start a big thread on how rejection has turned you gay and you're gonna go back and live with your parents who wanna disown you.

That leaves Myra and the cat...hmm, we'll think of something for them later.

Ouch. Sorry to hear.

Keep on applying. Don't let this discourage you.

I had my interview on Sunday, it was a group interview and a teaching demonstration, I thought it went very well. At the end, 8 of the 16 there were asked back for a second interview, I was one of them. I had a "personal" interview the next day in which I had to give one 5 minute teaching demonstration that I knew about, and one that was a surprise. I also thought the personal interview went well, and though it was difficult, genuinely felt I had done the best I possibly could have.

They told me I would find out within two weeks whether or not I would be offered a position, and I heard back from them yesterday. I was not offered a position, but was encouraged to re-apply (basically "Thanks, but no thanks" ).

So now I don't know what my plan is. I applied for four full time jobs in Milwaukee today, none of them are teaching - but I really have no clue what's coming next, if I'm going to apply to other programs in other countries, or what pretty much any of my plans are beyond the next two weeks.

I guess either try for some other programs or get a decent full time job in Milwaukee and try to get right back into grad school within a year or so would be preferable. But yeah, I really don't know, and don't know what to think about all of it either.

Do you know of any good programs that have contracts that begin and end each month?

Anything you could recommend would be epic, Jay. Didn't want to bother you now because I know you're in transit.

I havent read all the thread so I may be repeating certain elements...

Japan as far as I know is a difficult country to get a working visa for, I was highly considering it, but was told as a UK citizen it is a first come first served basis which you have to apply for at the start of the year, and a maximum of 300 or something equaly is stupid as that are issued.

I decided to go Australia, partly because of the weather, partly because of the girls and mainly because there are many job prospects there!!

I have a couple of people I know who are teaching in China, Its suppose to be ridiculously easy to get a job, It may not be Tokyo, but it will still be a great experience in a different culture.

I would check the forums on LonelyPlanet and RealGap for more advice.

GoodLuck.

Yup, love that site! Definitely just trying to figure out how to get my feet on the ground following school right now - I don't know, same thing I'd have had to do had I gotten the job, maybe I'm just tweaking out about it a bit more now not really having anything on the horizon at the moment.

Blech. Just a bit of mindless anxiety, I'm certain it will get sorted.

Awwww, thanks boss

Yeah, I'm going to keep trying - I just need to figure out the when and where again. I certainly didn't expect the first shot to be perfect, but definitely thought I may have gotten it.

Ah well, like I said, definitely going to keep trying.
