It doesn't necessarily.
My impression is that Deadmau5 doesn't take any of this very seriously, so he likes poking fun at people who treat dance tracks or DJ sets as anything more than trivial doof-doof-doof music churned out to excite a crowd and then be forgotten within a few months.
I don't think he has a big ego. He just enjoys shitting on people who think of EDM as art or serious music rather than simple stupid fun.
