Yeah there's those select few Tiesto tracks that just never seem to die no matter how many years pass. I've yet to hear a live set from Tiesto where he plays Coming Home or Forever Today. Those are some mean trance tracks, as with the rest of the stuff from the album Parade of the Athletes, but NOOOOOOOOO he's just GOT to play Traffic or Lethal Industry (both ironically featured on Parade of the Athletes) for the billionth time. Hell, I'd even take his more mellowed-out stuff like Obsession or Flight 643 (Two more tracks I've never heard him play in a set).
Honestly, I'd shit my pants if I heard one of these GOOD Tiesto tracks at a live show.
SPEAKING OF WHICH, does anyone know of a live Tiesto set where he plays any of the aforementioned songs that I'd like to hear? It'd be MUCH appreciated! |
Saw him in Sydney this May. Towards the end he dropped Traffic > Suburban Train > Silence > Flight 643, in that order. Suffice to say, it went off

In a nutshell:
You don't have what it takes to be a star. You have what it takes to be the guy that loves his music, yet never truly gets anywhere with it. Nothing wrong with that, but sometimes obsessive morals are a bad thing.
I don't believe Tiesto sells out. He seems to love what he does. Sure, he has to drop those tracks that are expected but generally he plays what he wants to, and yet people still lap it up. That goes back to the original point of him being so consistent and most of the time being great at selecting which tracks to play and when. Can you honestly name one DJ who has been as consistent over the years as him? Armin, Sasha, Ferry, Oakie, PVD etc have all had their ruts and some are still in them.
