Probably, and yeh, not disputing that that's the proper term. Just some melodeath is a bit on the light side. I dunno, do quite like swallow the sun though, guess it's personal preference really.

As far as Nightrage goes, I need to do a little more listening. However Swallow The Sun is definitly more underground, good, and a better band for sure.

Lately I've been enjoying a lot of Amorphis.
Not even going to try to describe it for you genre nazis.
. What makes them melodeath? Well, what else would you call them? I do agree though, they're far from the best out there. I just dig that opening riff 
and they're a good example of screaming.
