I know, but people still take the info from the liner notes and credits of records and CDs. We've already established that you hate them, but saying they don't even write their own music just for the sake of it is a different thing.

What I do think is kind of cool about them is that they weren't even allowed to listen to rock music until moving out from home - that's one of the reason that their first few albums were considered so unique and light on distinct influences.

I think your criticism here lies exactly where it does with Kings of Leon fans - that their latest album is a departure from their more original sound and obviously caters to making it more generic arena rock. I still don't think it's anywhere near as samey as you do, but I could see that point if it were the one you were making.

I think there's a general undercurrent on a site like this of disliking music on sight for being popular - after all, most people fell in love with EDM and viewed it as "underground" or different for at least a little while. It isn't that accessible, and many posters here pat themselves on the back for enjoying something that most people don't appreciate. None of this is a bad thing, but it does seem amusing that someone who distinguishes so readily between Luciano and Porter doesn't see a difference between Coldplay and Kings of Leon, two groups with vastly different influences even if their audiences overlap to a great degree.

Anyway, just my two cents. This thread is kind of like if someone on a rock and roll forum posted "I just saw Lee Burridge last night and every song sounded the same... how uninspiring!" If you don't like them, that's great, but that's really all this thread has managed to say.

I agree, I read an article about them in Rolling Stone and they had quite an interesting upbringing, much different than most rock bands where it's just a dude and his 3 buddies banging out shit in their uncle's garage and then became famous. They grew up singing in the choir and shit

See, I don't even think their new album is that bad, but it isn't quite as creative as their others. I actually think the band agrees with this, and thus doesn't find a concert to be that exciting anymore. I'm going to see KOL in Nashville (the lady is a huge fan) and I'm hoping that they bring the house down with lots of oldies and actually play with some emotion and power rather than a "throwaway show" in Montreal. Not every show can have them doing blow off a hooker's ass, blowing up guitars and kicking midgets. Jay caught all kinds of shit for playing a track that Tiesto played, but just because it's popular doesn't mean it's not good music, and I think a lot of people overlook that. "Oh, hundreds of people like KOL because they are mindless sheep and don't know what good music is." I think that's a silly argument, if you like a certain kind of music, then you like it, and people shouldn't say shit about it. Initially I think Jay was bitching about the fact that KOL played like shit, and I'm sure he's right, they're on tour playing shows every 2-3 days, I'm sure it's gonna sound like they're a little bored of it.

Oh well, I think they're a good band, and much better than 90% of rock/grunge bands out there today, and flame me all you want, but I think they have creative songs. They have a much different sound than any band that I've ever heard, and for those saying that they sound like Foo Fighters and Nirvana need to shoot themselves in the face.

LOL, the shit we gave Jay for Caminando was all in good fun. It's not his fault some moron decided it was a good idea to send Tiesto the promo.

the major flaw with your argument lez is that i didn't know how much of a departure that this was from their other albums, because i never heard them. I don't listen to the radio and could not even name you one top 40 song of the moment (edit: false..sex on fire and probably a lady gaga track due to that fag the voice). If i was offended that this would not be an underground show, i would not have went would i? I think they suck...hard.

Lol, zip sounds like a lover scorned because he paid for tickets and i went for free.

As far as caminando goes, it was all in good fun. I would play that track again, even if dj sammy remixed it, solely because i like it, and it was a perfect way in my view to finish off of my set. I don't look at dj charts when i buy music, i buy what i like. The "more underground than dubfire" argument does not stick.

As far as doing a "throw away" show, that isn't my problem. If you want to keep your fans or make new ones, rock the fuck out of every captive audience that you get. If you just want to go through the motions to collect a paycheck...then you don't deserve to be there in the first place. Any one who thinks otherwise needs to shoot themselves in the face. There are more than enough bands out there that would be more than willing to take that opportunity, and kol is hardly irreplaceable.

I don't think they sound like foo fighters or nirvana, because they simply are not even in the same league. It takes more than playing many of their songs using almost all of the same keys to be the same. It takes a level of talent that they do not have, or at least has yet to be seen by me.

I'll forget about this thread and this band pretty fast. Once again not my fault, it is not up to me to leave a lasting impression, but up to the band.

anyway, off to see metallica...and even though i'm not that big of a fan, past experiences dictate that this won't be a "throw away" show...because they are professionals, are tried and tested, and still would not be in the spotlight had they chosen to have the shoddy work ethic of kol. I'm also pretty sure that metallica tours a fuckload more, so what is kol's excuse now?

In 10 years from now no one will remeber them, because they are not that special. You can argue all you want, but the proof will be in the pudding

....take my hand...off to never never land. *bangs head and wiggles cock at groupies*

when i saw nirvana they rocked it the fuck out no matter how many tour dates they had.

same with about the 5 times that i have seen the foo.
