ANY local DJ is lucky to get 100 people on a dance floor...

Were you directing that at me personally? Cause I can't say I know you...

Sorry, I just vomited in my mouth a little. j/k, he's good people, just with an unfortunate taste in music.

He had 3 people show up to see him at Filter. I had more friends (maybe 4) show up to see me play upstairs that night...

Local DJs can get can play to crowds, but it is seldom simply because of the DJ themself. It is usually either the club regular following, or radio hype (and a combination of the two). People in Atlanta don't go out simply to hear the locals in a club.

The D&B/ dubstep scene is an exception to this rule.

And the back in the day rave scene was different as well. But then you were going out to hear 4 - 10 of your favorite locals, and not just one at a club.

Blah, whatever, I am old - and I miss raves. I am not ashamed to admit it, and I have been missing them more and more lately...

That's why I support the idea of consistent venues.

I've gone to local DJ events where the music was awesome, it's just hard to really get into it with 5 or 6 people there.

I can blame my inability to dance unless I'm shitfaced. I can't have fun unless I dance, and I'm not that great at it, so I need a crowd to hide in or enough alcohol to not give a shit =P

So... local nights here and there never really pull that many people. However, if someone started something consistent (as in every weekend for longer than 3 weeks) I'm sure it'd pick up eventually.

Not likely to happen anytime soon, though.

I actually remember almost enjoying his sets at eleven50. Or maybe my memory is just comparing eleven50 to Opera. My cat running back and forth on a piano sounds better than Opera DJs on any given night (special events excluded, obviously)

I don't know if or how serious this comment is, but I know this was a common complaint we had in the scene in Madison, WI before I moved down here (well, AFAIK it hasn't changed). A good DJ is a good DJ, it doesn't matter to me if they're an international superstar or a guy from around the corner. Hell, sometimes I find the locals to be MUCH more interesting than some of the big names. One of our so-called "just a local DJ" has since moved on from Madison and blown up in LA, DJ Fei Fei (if you've heard of her).

You gotta start somewhere, and even Tiesto, PVD, Armin, etc were no-name local DJ's at some point in their careers.

My comment was serious business, we're starting to get some good shows again. Just ripping on the people calling the established international DJs we've been getting "no names."

I cant help the definition of a no name DJ, sorry. Even in my prime where I played at Avalon Boston I was a no named DJ, if you cant take criticism get off TA. I played at a restaurant in Ibiza does that make me an "established international DJ", hell no. Get out of your dream world and quit over hyping your events. Notice no one but your little circle of friends (who dont post outside any threads beside your own) has stuck up for you. If anyone else has it has been slim.

And yes, if you cant find one single video from one of your Epic parties, I would consider them not too Epic, so what you packed out a restaurant. From what I have found from asking around it was due to lack of option that events did well at Bazzar. It was definitely not due to any kind of good promotion work or insanely good sound. Heck, no one here even heard about the events till after you came over saturating TA with crap threads.

No one is saying that what you guys are trying to do for music is a bad thing, nor am I wanting you to stop. I am just tired of you guys coming to TA and hyping up your events like they were the most awesome and epic events that Atlanta has ever seen. You are preaching that shit to the wrong fucking message board at the very least.
