That glow came from the two events I went to beforehand. Now THOSE parties had some good music.

Again, nothing wrong with markus, its just he keeps playing the same stuff over and over again. Ok, I get It, u like perspective space, but please, enough already.

CL ROCKED Pacha Nyc...Ronski speed sucked balls sorry to say, kept playing vocal crap. I'll probably go to Vola but ONLY for Stoneface and Terminal only b/c I'm hoping it'll be quality trancey shit with minimal vocals.

Looking at Leon Bolier's year end mix tracklist (below), there is a fair bit of techno in it, but it is not boring techno, and this type of techno has some melody.

The biggest issue with trance was(is) it that it became something that you could play on a piano; how many times did we see Armin in a break down, trying to play along to what ever song was on at the moment. Old trance didn't do that, it was a sound that was warped, and mostly would have been impossible to play on a music instrument, it had to be created in a studio. That's why new trance was more akin to dance/pop, it became accessible, with good and bad consequences.

In comes techno. Good luck playing a techno song on a piano, or any other musical instrument. Get back to that old type of feel, with modern sounds/filters/synths, and modern production quality, and we have our selves a ball game.

Now, I do not produce, so please take what I wrote with a grain of salt, as I have no idea what actually goes into producing a techno song, vs a trance song, I just know what they sound like in the end.

1 Tipmastaz & Arram Mantana - Ararat (Pig & Dan Remix)
2 Len Faki - Odyssee 2
3 Impact - Strangers
4 Dosem - Beach Kisses (Joris Voorn Green Mix) <--------great techno song with trance in it
5 Saint Rush - Nothing Like You <-----great example of a good new song with old elements
6 Andy Duguid ft Julie Thompson - Falling
7 First State - Brave (Jonas Steur Remix)
8 Marcus Schössow & Robert Burian - Kofola
9 Wolfgang Gartner - Fire Power
10 Jules & Jazper - Analog Dog
11 Len Faki - BX3
12 Purple Haze - Bliksem
13 Mac & Mac - Solid Session (First State Remix)
14 Leon Bolier - Medellin
15 Super 8 & Tab - Irufushi
16 Three Drives - Automatic City
17 Richard Durand - Into Something (Fall Down Mix)
18 Cliff Coenraad - Gone South (Leon Bolier Remix)
19 Lisa Miskovsky - Still Alive (Raver Rework)
20 Breakfast - Remember
21 Gaia - Tuvan
22 Menno de Jong & Leon Bolier - Last Light Tonight
23 Peter Martijn Wijnia - Sacrifices (Vast Vision Remix)
24 John 'o Callaghan feat. Josie - Out of Nowhere (Stoneface&Terminal Remix)
25 Leon Bolier feat. Floria Ambra - This
26 Simon Patterson - Always
27 Jan Oostdyk - Eivissa Eivissa
28 Aly & Fila - Khepera (Leon Bolier Remix)
29 Roger Shah & Signum - Healesville Sanctuary
30 Leon Bolier - Lunar Diamond
31 Heatbeat - Vergatron
32 Paul Webster - The Wolf
33 Sied van Riel - Mongoosed
34 Oryon - V2
35 Leon Bolier - NSFW
36 Ernesto vs. Bastian - Laserbrain
37 W&W - Mainstage
38 The Killers - Spaceman (Sander van Doorn Remix 2)

+ a million.

I love how things are going back to the beginning (sort of) where in techno it's all beats then melody is slowly creeping back into things more and more so that techier sounds with melody is what is making people love the sound. I found myself liking the beats initially b/c the fluff in trance was becoming WAY too generic and boring and didn't give me that same uplifting feeling I had before. But when similar melodies starting creeping into techno it just became AMAZING.

Producers used to make an effort to make a track sound good... now it's all "pre-set" sounds, or whatever they're called, put together.
So many songs sound exactly the same such as: CHAKALAKA and PONG by Wippenberg or STARDUST and BLUEPRINT by Stoneface & Terminal.
Now it's become quantity over quality!

Originally despite the oversaturation of the trance sound (imo) is SADLY really lacking.
