blah eminem blah blah
that gets back to my point.. what eminem does in my mind is NOT rap. It's just spoken pop music. It does not live up to what in my mind is defined as rap from the earlier onset of the genre. Eminem is no more rap to me than kid rock is rock. As far as house, I'm indifferent. I'd rather hear that than most popular rock commercial (pop) dance, pop-rock, etc. etc. The huge problem with the majority of music available today is even the rare good stuff gets so overplayed that I just can't stand it after a couple weeks. A bunch of my friends are not into trance music or even much of the majority of its closest relatives in the electrical music world, but I can tolerate what they listen to simply because they aren't listening to whatever's on the radio. And they don't buy cd's of whatever is popular on the radio at the time. What's that line from The Crow.. the idea has become the institution.. something like that. I'm not saying that I listen to trance just so I can say I listen to something different, and I'm not saying that just becuase a musical style is not popular it's good either. Yet it is true if I say that I dislike pop because it goes nowhere and there is no originality. Blah.. I don't know how to summarize this now..
I was going somewhere with this, but it's late and I'm too tired to think of it. I partially dislike pop simply because it's popular but I mainly dislike it because it's unoriginal. I'm not so set against rap becuase what people consider rap now is really just pop music with a supposed "streets" background. It's a bunch of bull, and it's useless to me, but I did like older rap because it was original back then.
