i can't throw out a statistic off the top of my head, and it isn't always the case, but in general animals that breed repeatedly tend to live a little shorter. Add in the "pure bread" equation and you have to watch out. Just like with dogs, most pure bred cats are more prone to genetic disorders and are a little more sensitive to disease than a cat that is mixed.
every race is different of course, and they all have their own genetic predispositions.
for instance, our sphinx is prone to certain liver conditions moreso than other cats because of the extremely limited gene pool available. (see: accidental inbreeding, it happens quite a bit)
