It feels like they started out with MCs cause the crowd wouldn't dance unless it was a upbuilding break in the tune or a MC that told them to dance...
I've been to TE 5 times and every time it felt like I was the one who danced the most. So maybe it's needed at some parties but from what I was told the crowd was really good this time!

At hardstyle event it's part of the whole scene to have a MC.
