but anyway, baseball's contracts are absurd because:

they're guaranteed
free agency is unrestricted
people keep setting a new bar for insanity (one of the points from that show: it's never Steinbrenner who does it.)
there's a short supply of talent, especially in pitching, so there's a giant bidding war dependent on the options each year--not on actual skill
and, of course, no salary cap or revenue sharing

I understand that it is a job, and I also understand that you're good at it or else you wouldn't be on the mound but I don't know what qualifies someone to be paid millions for a JOB.
