Yeah you gotta love the hypocrits who say trance is soo artificial compared to the stuff they listen to. Have you actually heard some of their "real" artists sing at concerts and stuff? They sound like a total piece of $hit because they don't have the recording studio mixer/audio processor machines beautifying their horrid voices. And they have the nerve to call trance artificial. it is artificial in the sense that there aren't usually a core sounding of "real" instruments but then again their music is no better at all. *especially* rap. You call that singing? I call it guys being gruff instead of trying to actually make use of their vocal chords properly because they're too lazy AND untalented to do otherwise. "yo yo yo angst is my fuel for my cheesy lyrics; record studio music 4 life I can't sing for shit!" (this of course isn't completely true but sadly that's all one will tend to hear anywhere).

Trance is real in the sense that it's its own genre, expressing emotion and whatnot in its own way like all other genres of music. there's nothing artificial about that. While trance artists may not heavily rely on vocals in their music, it's still as real and authentic as the next genre that does use it. Why? because trance music does all the expression without the need for words. It's expression is mainly through the music and not always on vocals.

Here in New Jersey, the only people that listen to trance are guido's and gotti's. With their guinea T's, and spiked hair... God I hate them. So whenever I am blasting trance in my car, everyone thinks I am a guido.

see those are what I call poseurs. They listen to it 'cause they think that's the "in" thing. Alas you suffer the bane of being labeled like one of them because they've commercialized it and whored trance out in the area.

In a small town like the one that I live in people always think that they're listening to stuff that's "In". It seems to be very important for them to show what they're listening to. I have only noticed that a few people knows who for an example Ferry Corsten is..This place sucks indeed, Surely.

LOL @ Guidos

FYI, Guido-types down here in SA are referred to as "Julios" because of their Latino origin.

BWAHAHAHAHAHA

Up here in Toronto/Canada regardless of ethnicity we call them ginos/ginas. Guido is non-existent as a term North of the border .

I don't think it's an embarassment to say you like trance. I mean it's the best. Is it embarassing to say you like the 49ers Dynasty, the Bulls Dynasty, the Lakers Dynasty of today and yesterday? Of course not. Because it's the best. Everything else is like the Clippers.

But when I tell people what I listen to, I say something like tribal-progressive-psy-drum n'core-breaks together just to test them.

Heh. I see people talking about high school. When I was in high school there was about 4 people who liked EDM. Of course, they were the cool kids in school. I sat next to a drum N bass kid, who I also suspect stole one of my cds when I was taking a shit.

ppl know techno (at least they think they know what it is) and hardcore aka jump nowadays
but most of em wont really know what you mean exactly by trance except for saying: "ah Tiësto?", if you're lucky that is

ah and to answer to your question : its not really an embarassment, i'm always proud to say it
