I could have played more "banging" as you put it but trust me, I know Passion far better than you ever will and the style I played at the end suited the masses that were there. If I had nailed out some harder music in any form, it would have emptied the club twice as fast.. guaranteed. The only way that place would have been kept going as busy as it was, was if I had played loads of classics, but thats not what i'm about.

I dont really have any objection to the music u play at all. However something i do object to is the fact that a club will always empty at 4am because people are knackered. U are right in saying PVD is the main attraction so why not have him last, thats what most clubs i've been at that actually manage to stay about 80% full do. People are knackered at 4am thats true but its amazing how playing the right music for the time or having the right dj will make a difference to that. So 1 or more of 2 things is wrong here, either ur not the right dj for the time slot or ur not playing the right tunes in the right way. If ur emptying the club and its not one of those things and it is just the passion crowd then u might aswell close at 4 and save some money.

Isn't that Marcel Woods tune called Advanced?

Operation Blade

It was New Order - Confusion, the tune that Public Domain sampled for their track.

Confusion was no sample as it was played for a good 5 minutes, I believe it went something like this:

21. Randy Katana - Play It Louder
22. New Order - Confusion
23. Marcel Woods - Adrenaline

The club didnot empty at 4am... the place was busy till we closed at 6:05am.. I didn't say that the club will always empty, i said it was going to quieten down a bit..

It seems that no matter what, people will always have a gripe with something or someone.. I played the right music for that time as proven by the numbers still there and still wanting more at 6am!!

I'm on a losing battle with you guys here as you obviously feel pretty strongly about this so lets agree to dissagree... For us it was a very successful night in all aspects and a few people on here don't change that!

Regarding the MCing, I can see no logical reason why there is any need to introduce a DJ or tell the crowd who the DJ is during the set when you have a VJ who is plastering it allover the screens every 5 minutes.

As stated above, the energy and atmosphere was top notch till we closed.. thanks!!

And PVD, Askew and 99.9% of all the other DJ's... plus many many many clubbers dissagree with you re: the mic, and think that introducing DJ's is a good thing.

The impression i got from phrasing like "the club would have emptied twice as fast" is that it emptied. If it didnt then i'm wrong on that score. I enjoyed the night as a whole so i dont want to complain too much, just i dont believe having resident djs on last is the best option.

That new Katana tune "play it louder" actualy has the new order sample in as far as I know, unless its just a bootleg that Armin and Pual have been playing, coz everytime ive heard it its had that bit in it...

PS: Mikey Mike if thats u with the bottle of bud cringing at the music, you're a proper baby-face, didnt expect that!

i didnt go to the night but to be fair Andy uve handled the criticism very well. In all honesty the majority of the ukta members especially the more experienced ones of us all have become very picky after years of clubbing, about what we like and what we don't and although we all may feel we are right or atleast have a very good point it will generally be the 18-20 year olds (lesser experienced clubbers per say) that make up the majority of the punters for passion and most other trance nights round the country. Therefore imo those clubbers i guess should be the ones that are the target audience and the night should revolve around pleasing them, tho at times the moaning older clubbers should be listened to as they do very often have some good points.

anyway sorry to go off on a bit of a tangent

Actually Paul van Dyk has walked out of clubs hours early because people talked over his set. Make a note for next time maybe. Dont want him to fuck off an hour early to catch a flight that doesnt exist again do you?

I'd be interested to know the reason behind him walking out previously at Passion. I heard it was something to do with JFK wanting to go back to back or something?

Ive kept my ore out of this but ive decided to poke it in now. I went Passion most weekends for about 2 years and this "MC'ing" your all slagging off is hardly MC'ing. MC'ing is having some retard shouting his mouth off every 5 mins going "yea yea come on everyone, wave, woo, digging it tonight with mr DJ X in da house w0000t" - and thats hardly what happens at Passion. Ive never heard Andy on the mic but i doubt it'll be any different from what JFK or Dan Platten used to do - which was get the crowd cheering and applause the DJ at the end of their last tune, and then to introduce the next DJ on the start of the intro beats, which hardly ruins anything, and in the scheme of things gets the crowd rowdy thus making the atmosphere better.

Dan & JFK used to pop onto the mic prob once every 2hrs in the middle of a set, just to say "Come on Passion" and generally entice the crowd, but these were never during a breakdown of Urban Train or something silly, they picked their moments. So i think the abuse on the MC'ing is not really justified, and i think you've probably made a mountain out of a molehill.
