Agreed- Quality on this mix compared to CD1 and " is crap.

From now on - all GLOBAL mixes will need to be encoded in 256Kbps or HIGHER!

agreed, 320 if you ask me (even if you contribute a track that is only 192, should still be allowed). Though I don't think the quality is dramatic. And everybody needs to cut (amplified) compression (unless to master their own track of course, I think that's one of the biggest problems; the first tracks being compressed multiple times.
Have written down some comments on the mix, but I'm not quite finished, and I want to take a look at them again, so I don't hurt any feelings. What I can tell you is that there is not one track that I didn't like, tracklisting on this one is top imo.

Agree'd, but remember - if you decompress a digital file and the re-compress it in the same quality, 50,000 times, they'll be NO loss of quality.

I think, 3rd to 6th DJ in, it got encoded to 128 or even 96 kbps.

That it'self killed the first few tracks.

it isn't a bitrate issue, i'm pretty sure of that. it sounds like a compressor of some kind has been used. i may be wrong but i *think* trickysaer's track is the last track with the problem... the one after sounds fine. i'd be interested to find out what program he used to add his piece (i've had mixmeister distort tracks like that on me before.. could be that?)

Compression, I meant the effect (disable it next time, please, it's cumulative), not the bitrate conversion. Indeed, when 192 is used throughout the mix, the (wav <-> mp3) conversions shouldn't be the problem (or the mp3-computernerds really have their work cut out for them), I think higher bitrate will help with non-digital operations (live mixers) though. When using cables, loss is inevitable (unless impedances match perfectly), but higher bitrate should help there.

DJ Alex, plz send your tune ID to the coverpeople!

Bye
