Josh4 has a point about cliques on here. There are a lot of little sects of friends here, even though we all generally get along enough to inhabit the same forum. But you don't have to be a part of these cliques to be a good posting member. And cliques sometimes make things a little unfair. Rules aren't enforced as harshly for some people and the opinions of one person often resonate in a group so if one person dislikes you, it's a good chance their friends will too. Being on friendly terms with the higher ups also helps too, and you're more likely to receive warnings or be able to discuss your behavior than if you're an unknown or an unliked.

That's the way most life systems work, and if it is really that much of a problem, you can find other communities, or else you have to modify your behavior slightly to stay within the bounds of what is acceptable. One thing I like about TA is that people who provide the most entertaining and informative content often get a little more leeway because they pull their weight. Being friends with the mods keeps some people around to, but so what?

Almost everyone Ive come into contact with has had a case of taking the internet too seriously. I'm not suggesting that we should just post boundlessly, but sometimes lines get crossed intentionally and unintentionally...get over it. In the end, if it effects you to the point of lost emotiondal control the you need to take time away from it, and that goes for anything, not just the internet.




Short Version: Yes, there are cliques, but so what? Your membership to them or the forum isn't a requried thing. Just keep the personal attacks to a minimum and post good content and there is no problem here.
