We made it back to Detroit safe and sound - phew! Far better than the white knuckle express it took to get us to Toronto last night.
We got to the Guv right around 10pm as they were opening and the moment they opened up the Kool Haus, I scurried in. Porter just laid it out - no hesitation, no wanting to go smoothly - just banged some wicked fuckin' tracks. I couldn't stop the dancing and just went with it. I had never seen Porter before and I am definitely a fan.
Then Junkie XL.....damn. That is by far one of the most fun sets I have heard. I danced during its entire duration - the last three tracks he mixed in together - Fischerspooner, "Red Pill, Blue Pill", and the Beastie Boy's Fight For Your Right....damn!!!!! Wish I had kept the video camera running during it's entirety. And he was just getting into it - jumping on the decks, pumping his fists in the air - very good.
Mauro came on and it was banging. But it got a little too repititive for me so I wandered into the Gallery to catch more Porter. He was ripping it up hard in there - facker! We realized it was getting time for Blank & Jones and went back to the Kool Haus. B&J were great - everyone got a 2nd, 3rd, or 10th wind I think when they started spinning. Great way to end the night.
This is one of the best events I've been to at the Guv complex - Sasha/Lawler and Halloween 2005 being the other two great ones. My legs are sore, my ass is done, and I am very glad we made it up this weekend.
For videos, I have the following: Steve Porter: "Funkytown", Junkie XL: "OPening Track", "Misc Track", Coldplay "Talk", Fischerspooner "Emerge", "Red Pill, Blue Pill", Above & Beyond: Kosheen "Catch". Find me on MSN if you want any of them - A&B, Talk, and Funkytown turned out the best.
Thank you to the TOTAs once more for an awesome dancing adventure in Canada. My two friends, Scott & Leanne, had a blast on their second outing to Toronto.
Pictures to come soon as I can upload them.
Kris
