Generally I am a very open-minded, friendly person who loves being social and making new acquaintances. I have the tendancy to mesh with people easily, but I have found time and time again that when I go to events in Toronto, a group of people from TOTA have this way of making me feel ostracized, and "loserish", if that's how you want to describe it.
It's bizarre. I will open my arms and hug anyone. I will give anyone the time of day, especially a TOTA. However, on more than one occasion I have found that some TOTA's will snub me off, or blatantly act like a group of assholes.
It has turned me off of the TOTA crowd, and have more and more recently pulled myself back from the scene.
Don't get me wrong... there are A LOT of really awesome people within the TOTA crowd, but it has become so cliquey and shut off that I think it is turning a lot of people away. I have heard a couple of times from various people not registered say that they think the TA'ers are snobby. A large portion of them are. We are getting a bad name for ourselves.
Personally, and I have said this before, I think if you are going to claim yourself as a part of a community, then you should be open to welcoming others in from the same community. This isn't highschool anymore.
