There's logical assumptions that the media makes (which I can find suitable for many situations), however these are totally inept, senseless assumptions that I'm talking about.

Initially when I read posts like Jarv's, I get fairly upset, because I'm an American who actively supports more gun control.

But even though broad generalizations like that aren't entirely true, it is our policy that allows things like this to occur - and our responsibility as Americans to vote in order to say "We don't want this kind of shit happening in our country."

Voting doesn't happen, and these archaic, 18th century ideals remain, and we have to deal with shit like this happening and the majority of idiots here wondering "Why?" and "How?" when the answers seem pretty clear.

I find it very very very hard to blame, video games, 'easy access' to guns, being american, violent movies, decline of religion, abortion, fast food, and whatever else you can think of for causing these type of things. if in fact it does play a role in school shootings we would be seeing a hell of a lot more stories like this. there are millions of people that are american who play video games, watch every violent movie, have 'easy access' to guns, dont go to church and all that other jazz.


what we are looking at are weak correlations of behavior. but like arbiter said, its the perfect time to jump in with your agenda, whatever that maybe.

It's tempting to go off on a political point with gun control/concealed carry policies, but I really don't think at this point there's much to be said about it. These incidents, though very tragic, are the exception and not the rule. I'm not a gun owner (though a few gangs wanted me to join because I'm pretty good with the bow staff ), and I'm not much for concealed carry laws, which if given a choice I'd prefer to see more gun control laws. However, I'm not so much against it to point to some tragic event like this and use this as a vindication for that feeling I have that tends to side with more gun control.

Besides, if someone really wants to look at a bigger picture, you simply turn your glance towards Iraq and notice what happens on any given day:

Again, I don't want to take away the horrific tragedy that's taken place in our own country today, but events like this is like the fucking Groundhog Day movie in Iraq, only much much worse. If there's any political points to be made for someone trying to expand on a bigger picture for this story, perhaps they should start there instead of gun control laws.

Boomer, I agree with the majority of what I said, but honestly - we have insanely lax control laws, especially when compared to the rest of the first world, and I can't help but think that at the very least it would limit the amount of firearms available.

I don't blame these laws for what occurs, I simply think more gun control would genuinely be in our best interest.
