oh dave... don't you know the nicer the restaurant, the tastier their free bread and water is?
these places are midranged sitdown dinner, should be able to enjoy a nice meal for under $20
i dunno, i like eating nice, refreshing meals when i'm out in sf. the chevy's type of high carb/high msg food usually puts me out on my ass. whatever, i just thought an authentic sf dining experience would be better than a homogenized mass franchise type

People are coming from out of town too to see J00F and dont get to dine in the city often. (myself included) I'm sure peeps will be ok for a night out at a nice restaurant in the city. Especially J00F.

there used to be this bomb ass dim sum place in the embarcadero center on the lobby level where the gigantic waterfall is. don't remember what it's called or if it's still around/same ownership though. all the inexpense + delicious places i know of are on the other side of town

Monte cristo looks nice and pricey! The bar/table layout at Chevy's is better and the reason why Frank convinced me on it rather than the one close to 1015. It's causal, easier to move around and talk to others plus non of this 1 tab stuff. Still not the biggest fan of Chevy's but it's not too bad
Mystre also did tell Frank/Lexxx that there's not many "Mexican" food places in the UK/Europe and that DJ's from there usually like the Tex-Mex stuff.
I'll check out opentable.com when I get home but it's not like this is the last dinner we'll have

i've never eaten at monte cristo, the place turns into a club at night and that's how i know about it. apparently the food there is decent but the other places i listed in the vicinity are much better. i don't mind eating at chevy's but the quality of that place has gone downhill for years. maybe this location is different. probably 8 years ago i used to love eating there. it would be nice to showcase something great about the city at dinner though, whether it be some authentic food, nice scenery or some cultural ambience. just my 2 cents

Any chevy's is fine. It doesnt matter if the bar is huge or not. Set the time so we can coordinate with J00F and get him there smoothly. Lets make sure he gets back to his hotel to rest as well. He starts at around 1 am.

I personally love going to Chevy's for these dinners because Imaybe get a caesar salad....but that's not what's important.
It's the LARGE Margaritaaaaaaassssssssssssssss that are pretty darn good and well priced (especially consideirng it's a restaraunt).
In the end, doesn't matter to me. Long as they make a good margariiiitaaaaaaa lol. As I said, I prob won't eat but just looking out for other peeps.
And from my experience, places that are right on the embarcadero (not including the embarcadero center) tend to be pretty crowded and noise on weekends. Rizen is right about the Chevy's in the Emb. Center....it's pretty spacey and has a more laid back feel to it than other Chevy's.
But note, it's not in walking distance to Ten15. Probably best to catch BART to Powell Street then walk...if you are gonna walk.
