With a lot more research (I was REALLY serious about it), I found out that:
1. no sane doctor will allow me to do it until I am AT LEAST 25
2. it isn't 100% guaranteed reversible (who knows... MAYBE I will change my mind... meh)
3. it is a pretty serious surgery, and can cause many problems with your cycle etc.
4. there are simpler options that I can deal with until I hit menopause... lol

i've been on the pill for 8 years, with little-to-no problems whatsoever.
started off with Ortho-Tri-Cyclen, but then moved to a lower-dosage pill about a year after that because i was having mood swings and a decreased sex drive. i've been bouncing around on a few different low-dose pills ever since then, depending on who my doctor was and what my insurance covered. for a while i was just getting free samples from my doctor since my insurance didn't cover contraceptives.
i asked last year about switching to the shot, but my doctor told me that it was mainly for girls who couldn't handle the side effects of the pill. she basically said, if you don't suffer any major side effects from taking the pill, just stick with it... so that's what i've done.
i don't notice any side effects at all, plus knowing exactly when i'm getting my period (and being able to schedule it) is fucking rad. it's not a hassle for me to remember to take a pill every day. in fact it's just become part of my routine and i barely even have to think about it anymore. i've spent most of my years in serious monogamous relationships, and i hate condoms, so it's been the best option for me. |
I was on the pill for about a year. It was truly the worst experience for me. My body doesn't react well to hormone adjustments it seems, so I suffered, and everyone around me suffered.
Luckily I am regular enough that I can predict when I will start my cycle with a variance of +/- 1 day for the next year. It's pretty nice being so on time Only downside... if I have an off month where I start a couple days late (rare,) I have a little panic spaz.

IUD's are extremely dangerous. Yes that are very effective against pregnancy, but if you use one for enough time you may not need BC ever again.. /you could become infertile |
Extremely dangerous is a little overboard. Yes, they have risk to them... there are minute chances of having uteran scarring, or an ectopic pregnancy, but the odds are slim. With pretty much every form of birth control, as someone else mentioned, there are risks involved, and almost every single one has the risk of becoming infertile. It is a chance I am willing to take.
Personally, I think it is safer than injecting your body with hormones. Giving yourself a daily dose of chemicals that change the way your body operates is not appealing to me, and does not seem normal or safe in my opinion.

It's quite possible that I'm infertile, but I wouldn't know because I've never been to a gyno. One of these days I'll get around to it. |
I know everyone has nagged you already... but go to the gyno chick!! I go every year, and last year I was told I have a cyst on my ovary. Things like that need to be monitored to make sure they don't become seriously detrimental to your health. My doctor checks it from time to time to make sure that it isn't growing etc. etc. because there is a chance that it could become malignant.

+8976876876876 I find that I cum so much quicker and harder when it is passionate like this. I can do all the other stuff, and thankfully can cum other ways... but it doesn't compare to the slow passionate, close and kissing love making
P.S. Holy shit this thread exploded.

What do you use for BC? |
orthotricyclin lo
mmm...nope. however, when i was on the non-lo orthotricyclin (for 2 years) and took myself off of it, i felt A LOT better and noticed i had more energy. not sure if that is linked to the bc though.
yay no more cramps! but then again, i get DEBILITATING cramps to the point that i can't get out of bed for several hours and i'll throw up...so even if i'm not sexually active, i will still take the pill just for that one benefit.
if you're good with remembering, the pill is chill. i am pretty good about that stuff, but i still set a daily alarm on my cell just for backup.
| quote: | | Anyone have an opinion on the IUD??? Ladies? |
not personally, but a few of my friends have tried it and liked it. however, i heard that one of my friends' boyfriend could feel it when he went in really deep.
| quote: | | Anyone crazy enough to try the depo-provera *sp?*? |
DON'T DO IT. my friend in high school tried it and she didn't get her period for 3 months (like it's supposed to do) and then got her period for 3 months straight. also, if you don't get your period for 90 days, i would be a little sketched out because what if it didn't work and you wound up getting preggo?
| quote: | | Men, will you be willing to take the pill for men when it is on the market? |
haha that would be awesome. however, it's kind of a strange concept and i wonder how your body rebounds after you stop taking it, like how would your body know to begin making sperm again?
