so i finally got this after pre-ordering it off on amazon fucking 2 months ago.
anyway, i listened to CD2 before going to bed last night; and although the sounds aren't really my forte, they were at least consistant....like there was a flowing theme throughout....which i think 4 and 5 kind of lacked.
been listening to CD1 in my truck now, and it's pretty damn good. its a lot of stuff i've never heard before (haven't really listened to a lot of trance lately), so it was a new sound for me...and much like CD2, it has also that flowing sound/theme...which is very good. the first 6 tracks are really great...and track number 11 is *awesome* as well....(just looked at the title/artist, and i'm glad to see it was Allure...Julie Thompson's voice is just fantastic).
however....just kind of sucks that the transition out of it wasn't really my fav...and even going into track 11, it seemed rather abrupt. in fact, the last 4-5 tracks of CD1 all seemed to mix very abruptly...i could tell when each one started and one ended...which i think is OK, i guess, but what i loved about ISOS3 and 2 were that the sound was so flowing, it was hard to pick out the individual tracks (in some parts, at least).
all in all, just after a few listens, i already like it better than 4, and i think better than 5. 5 had some killer tunes, but no flow/theme really to it. all the tracks on 6 sound...not the same....but similar in style/tempo/etc...which make one giant overall theme for the album (something that 2 and 3 had VERY well).
but then again, i'm a huge sucker for intros and outros. and the ending of cd1...well...not a fan. and i don't really know if i like the way cd2 ends....all the previous ISOS always ended on a final solid note from a banging track (Sparkles, Airtight, Personal Reflexion, Perfect Silence, Little Bird)....but for an ISOS album to end with a calm/smooth, chillout sound...its different. not sure if i like it better or not...but at least its something different, and not just the same ol' rehash.
