I didn't realize how bad it was until my sister was here last time - someone who is my friend (and hers!) couldn't/wouldn't come out with us because of where we were going...
Same thing in Shanghai...I had a friend of mine who wanted to come see a DJ with us and couldn't because the club she was playing at had rivalry with the club we were going to and if she went her gig would be canceled immediately.
It's bollucks but it's business in the club scene Anywho, best of luck to Mr. Button. I've always enjoyed his sets!

I wasn't perplexed by the fact that the thread was started at all. Simply, that it was started by a dj that is booked and plays for Ink which, in this city, is direct competition for Carey. The politics are so much so that you wouldn't see (or have seen) anyone affiliated with Ink partying at Sonic or now Mod or vice versa
um... it's not like that at all.
Obviously you have to have some loyalty to your primary employer and can't work for the competition. That goes for ANY industry whether it's nightclubs, finance, advertising or landscaping.
Just because you can't work with someone, doesn't mean that you're barred from associating with them all together. I've been working with Guv for over 3 years.. while i never made it to sonic and haven't made it to Mod Club, I've been to circa probably 7 or 8 times. I'd also been to many "competing" events at the Docks, as I know many other INK staff/DJs have.. cause I've gone with them or seen them there!

The ego's instilled in those on TA have perpetually reflected a personality and more often than not, interfered with current friendships, future friendships and past friendships.
