I've had a couple of friends who have done this and loved it. I'm considering going to Europe to teach for many of the same reasons as you are. I've never been able to afford to travel and if I worked overseas, I would be able to not just see other cultures but immerse myself within them.

Anything you could recommend would be epic, Jay. Didn't want to bother you now because I know you're in transit.

your interpretation is not necessarily true. If this company is really a good one (i.e. reputable and pay would be better than other competitors, based on your research) then I would ask the interviewer for some critical feedback, work on it, and apply again. You were not selected based on their demand at that point in time and based on the other candidates available. You have a different personality and skill-set that will differentiate you so find out what your weakness is, work on it, and I guarantee you you'll be in.

Yes, that must be it.

Though that obviously begs the question of when it is that karma is going to shit on you for having nothing better to do than creating multiple alts on an internet message board?

I really can't imagine the karmic wheel finding someone like you worth more than me, so even if you are right, I'm sure I'm fine.

Thanks for reassuring me.

Come teach in Toronto. We have just as many Asians as there are in Asia.

A previous poster mentioned Australia- they have a lot of jobs here for ESL; it is a huge business here. Also, you can get a working holiday visa which was just introduced to US citizens in September, I think.

Any questions about going to Australia, let me know. I work for a Japanese company in Australia and I also work for an Australian university. Dave's esl cafe is good, but you have to search through things. If you want to search for jobs in Australia, look at www.seek.com.au

Getting the Japan gig is almost impossible. I have a friend that was trying it and he actually just got it...maybe he took your place, lol. I would love to go there, but not to teach. screw that. He's an arrogant prick like u, but not as in your face which makes him sorta tolerable in short bursts.

Funny thing is, I'm pretty sure that you could describe all 16 of the kids at the interview I was at the same way.

Must be something in our genes, eh?
