If it's impossible then why do you seem to be arguing that Tiesto is not successful because he does not love what he's doing?
All I see here is a difference of opinion on what some people would want to look like if they became 'successful'. For me, I wouldn't mind becoming hugely popular because then I would be able to play the music I love to as many people as possible. I would hope that I would never let myself start pumping out pop crap just because it sells more. If I got big doing my thing, I would keep doing my thing, not do everyone else's thing just to get even bigger.
I can understand that Clovis would never want to be Tiesto however that doesn't mean that Tiesto doesn't view his music and 'success' the same way Clovis would his own.
As far as judging Tiesto's consistency by comparing his music now with his music 10 years ago or even 5 years ago doesn't really hold up because trance isn't the same as it was it has changed and from what I've seen, Tiesto has changed WITH it. As Fledz pointed out other artists like Armin, Oakie etc have ventured into some really weird areas of music drastically drifting from what they've always done. I agree with Fledz that of all the superstars, everything I hear from Tiesto maintains the vibe and soul that he's always had. If you go see Tiesto, you're going to get Tiesto. If you go see Armin or Oakie, you never know what you're gonna get. |
Tiesto is successful by many people's measure of success (and probably he is own). He is not successful at all in terms of what I deem "success" is. He is not my idea of success.
Thats all there is to say really. I never argued that he isn't successful by most people's definition, I just said that MY idea of success is vastly different, thats why I always take issue with people saying "don't bash him for being successful".
