My dad had many friends who were great chefs over the years, and since I was a little kid it was engrained into me, that you never add anything to a chef's creation until having tried it as is first.

Clovis = class

my sister's ex was a top-tier restaurant owner who hosted special dinners for people like Richard Gere.

Very meticulous about cooking and how well or badly received the dish was. He was neurotic and that 'vodka sauce' incident would've offended him.

In my opinion, it was rude. but I was raised differently...

Word. At least take a few bites without adding anything.

I have no idea why this thread is so long.

I agree with Slylee -- however, in his defense, if it's the type of food he's used to eating with a certain sauce then it could have just been instinctual and I can't see him having asked you had he the same thought process as you.

I think we can all agree men and women can have a totally different thought process for the same situation -- (i.e. jennypie and slylee))

He certainly should have tried it before adding anything, even salt and pepper.

However, if he wants TS on it (I do on my stuffed peppers...actually, I cook it into the stuffing)he should have taken a bite before walking to the fridge.

IMO

Am I the only person here that thinks that this:

- :: takes two bites :: ... ... ... er, can I have some tomato sauce?

is more rude than this:

- :: asks for tomato sauce, then takes two bites :: MMMM, om nom nom, this is good stuff, babe!

seems to me that would be a lot worse than just asking first. it's like saying, 'I thought it would be better than this. I need sauce,' instead of 'this looks good, but I always like sauce.'

edit: haha I clicked reply from the first page.
