my parents met & dated for 3 months- my moms visa was about to expire & my dad asked her to marry him. she said yes. they've been married since.

my dad was 19. he had me when he was 20.

don't get married until you're 25+!! imo

that's not a good age bracket to get married in at all. and it's because you do some major maturing between the ages of 19-24/25 and almost become a different person. you may take interests in things you didn't care about as a 20 year old and discover your partner actually hates your new passion for mountain biking and she all of a sudden turns OCD on your ass after she completes her biology or chemistry degree and has a fear of germs....

I agree.....I know a bunch of people that are like 19 and 20 and are married and I don't know...they seem happy for now but I don't really see it lasting (I'm such a negative nancy I know lol) and recently a friend I went to middle school with became engaged (she just turned 19 in February) but she says she's going to wait until she finishes college and stuff which I think is wayyyy better than just getting married right away.


But when you think about it, a lot of people way back when got married really young. My grandma from my dad's side got married when she was 14 or something and her and my grandpa were together until the day they died (well, he died first in his 60's and she lived to be 97 but never remarried after his death) and the same goes for my great grandma (from my dad's side too)..I just think it's THIS generation that can't really do the whole getting married young deal.

I also think it's better to wait. I had just turned 29 and I was surprised it happened that soon. The difference in maturity between, like, 21 and 28 is staggering. Especially for dudes.

yeha they used to get married rlly young back then too but they actually coped with sickness, money issues, & everything else that came their way.. today theres one small fucking problem & there goes the divorce papers..

they have no real sense of commitment or trying to resolve & amend things or coming to a compromise.. when you're married ur bound to have arguments.. ive seen my parents fight really really bad & my mom cry but they're just bumps on the road.. they get over it in the end..

It's sad really. People think marriage is a breeze and then when they get married they start seeing problems they just take the easy way out and get divorced instead of working things out. It's ridiculous. I'm really scared of ending up with a guy like that lol. I've heard people say marriage is kinda like a second job.
