Here's the thing. There's no way to say he is influential to pop music, but then turn around and say without Michael Jackson, very little would be different in pop music. Contemporary artists like Justin Timberlake, Usher, Black Eyed Peas, etc. all have gone on the record to state that they try to emulate his look, his swagger, and his sound when they perform and record music. That, in itself, changes pop music's current path.
But in the end, I never truly understand the point of these threads. No one ever sees the opposing views. Maybe we'll just have to agree to disagree.
