Yes, that is a big no-no. TA is like the good old high school days were everyone had to dress, act and talk the same way, otherwise, you will be an outcast, like Dave... or hated on, like Dave, Deadmau5, Tiesto, Armin, Ferry, etc.

To be fair, when people here will own up to compromising their artistic integrity solely to produce music that is palatable for the masses, it often times results in a bit of backlash.

Some people might be a little jaded vs commercial and mainstream, but I'd say if it's good it's good and people appreciate it anyway. Most of the time the jadedness (word?) is justified because of the massive amount of shit commercial and mainstream music out there

I can agree with your statement to some extent, but I also feel that some if not all of the above mentioned have at points in their careers made some amazing, even ground breaking music too.
