i'll agree with most that when they play each other it's typically boring but i don't think serena stomping on people is bad for the game. the era of the williams sisters will be an important part of tennis history and i think we should enjoy seeing such good athletes while we can, similar to us enjoying watching federer and nadal.

When they were younger, their father and themselves offended a lot of people with their general attitude and it didn't sit too well.

as for the comment above probably made 10yrs ago, athletes make dumb comments all the time. to dislike her for being dumb isn't really reason enough to not want to see them out of tennis because i'm sure there are plenty of dumb athletes who say stupid things although they are just smart enough not to say it on the record. serena flipping out was uncalled for but until then i've never heard of them being mean to tournament staff. it doesn't excuse it but there is no history of them being totally difficult to deal with so that shouldn't sum up their attitude.

serena is cocky but she backs it up by winning. it's her personality, imo nobody has to like athletes as people to respect their skill on the court. it's great if they are all around good people but i think that's probably rare.

without a doubt by my point is their comments don't define their tennis. you may not them as people but that's not why we watch.

To his defense, Trump didn't even really look like a bum.

You feel the same way about Tiger? Obviously I'm not trying to compare them, I'm just making the point that how you conduct yourself on or off the playing field matters.

Just being talented and winning isn't everything. Look at Nadal and Federer class acts. They know they're more talented the rest of the field but they don't feel the need to rub it in others faces or act arrogant. Very profession, modest, and polite. That's why they are both admired and liked.

Like Ian said most of the William sisters stuff happened a while ago. My feelings have mellowed over time but I just don't care for them.

pretty much, truthfully i've never liked tiger. he has some personality issues but i don't think any less of him as an athlete. i agree with you about Roger and Rafael, they are extremely humble and great champions, they act as one should and it's more believable when they give their opponents kudos. that is their personality which vibes well with most people. i don't think you need to like venus or serena but they should be respected for their talent.

anyway looks like Venus couldn't win today but Kim was incredible and she's off to win her third US Open. Hope the Final is exciting to watch but I'm not sure Zvonareva can push her to three.

Of course not, but sometimes when you sour on a person you never go back 'onto' them, therefore you don't get the enjoyment of watching them. I honestly think too that maybe they went a bit far in the gym, they don't look too feminine but obviously that's a different argument. There's toned, but then there's ripped and they're way up there, sometimes I look at Nadal & they seem to be close to his size!

Anyway I caught the end of the 3rd set & it was fun, Kim's lob in the penultimate match was pretty epic & Zvonareva continues to improve.

serena definitely is uber ripped but at a quick glance she's got plenty of tits and ass so despite her muscles you couldn't confuse her with a man. venus is built completely different and more along the lines of players like elena dementieva. i'm pretty sure i've seen venus at some women's in sports event and she looks feminine just athletic and tall like other professional athletes. i definitely saw laila ali who is probably in the neighborhood of serena's size but with a prettier face and she looked feminine. i will agree though, serena is probably as big as nadal

i understand not liking someone can make you not cheer for them but again you watch for what they do on the court.

A better question is: If a woman sleeps with Venus, is she a lesbian?
