I got bored of this thread around page 9.

And they have a little more maturity than M4B too. I personally find GS a bit pretentious but if you don't take it too seriously, they aren't trying to be ultra arrogant, whereas M4B just takes it to the next level by pure force of will. Thats not neccesarily a bad thing and it provides almost as many jollies as Robby's racist rants.
TBH, much as I've enjoyed this thread, it just further convinces me that TA has gone to shite. Its not even a moderation issue, its just that the majority of the users are like Robby or Ortofonchild. M4B is the least of our problems under the circumstances, he's obviously a tool, but maybe an amusing tool, even when he's sending you furious PMs about who he had dinner with the day before.
Have any of you ever gotten an angry PM from him? If not, you're failing at trolling him, and further, have nothing to complain about regarding his behaviour IMO.
That said, the way some of you suck up to him is a bit tragic IMO. I'm looking at kysora and even you cryo a little, and I'm hesitant to say it because I respect both of you as posters. BUT I sort of expected you to be a bit more gutsy and tell M4B off a little bit when he gets out of hand. Hanging around saying that we are but dirt beneatht the feet of the great one really just bugs me, you might be dirt but please speak for yourself.
EDIT: and how did this thread wind up talking about the GFC on page 10?? Fucking random shit.

Sorry you feel that way about me kit, but I'm definitely not sucking up to M4B. I honestly couldn't give a shit about him or his opinions, and I don't take him seriously at all - his whole persona is a giant flamebaiting joke and I discovered early on with him that if you just ignore his rude/arrogant comments, he'll move on to someone else because he's just another lame attention-seeking kid. When I speak of his musical knowledge, well that's just a fact. I don't know for sure, but I believe that he and I are the only two regular visitors here with degrees in Music Theory and I can tell you that his knowledge of classical music is far superior to mine. But, it's not like I really care - I never really was into classical music anyway, and having lived much of my life as a musician, I sure as hell don't envy his job. And if he gets banned or just never comes back, I won't shed any tears. But I'm obviously not making my points very well and it's coming across as ass-kissing.
Anyway, for the record, I think he's a giant nuisance and the thread derailing thing is definitely out of hand. But I'm the type of guy who can just shrug it off and I don't get that easily offended. So, I think the problem is that I just mistakenly assume that everybody else can do the same. Sometimes I feel like everybody puts a little too much emphasis on my opinions for some reason and I really don't know why - I'm just one of 100s of members here and my opinion shouldn't carry any more weight than anyone else's. But it seems like I've been called out a lot lately for stating my opinion (and I don't mean that in a "poor me, the victim" way), but maybe I'm just too outspoken for my own good and should learn to shut my piehole?
I doubt anybody noticed, but about a year or so ago I stopped hanging out on forums for a few months because I was sick and bored of all the flamefests on TA, KVR, gearslutz, etc, so when I came back I decided that I was going to make a concerted effort to avoid or try to diffuse confrontational situations whenever I have the chance. You guys may see that as "sucking up", but I prefer to think of it as having much bigger things to worry about (e.g., a kid, my future, my job). Talking about music should be a great way to take my mind off those everyday stresses, not make them worse.
OK, I'm probably rambling now,...

Obviously you didn't say the stuff about us being dirt beneath his feet btw, sorry if I came off sounding like that. I've just noticed you making excuses for him occasionally I guess.
I also agree with you about not taking things on the interwebs seriously for what its worth, I've been following the same strategy of laughing off people's stupidity, and just trolling the people who irritate me harder than they troll me.
It does work well for me individually, but it feels like this whole forum is just a little TOO light hearted now in a way? As you said, the thread derailment thing is way out of hand, there just aren't any worthwhile threads on here anymore, so I feel like us longer term members (you, RANN, maybe me, Eric J when he drops by) and people who actually care (like kysora) should be working to try to pull things back into line a bit and get discussion back towards production. The longest threads around here are about rubbish these days, and the energy just isn't going into thoughtful or insightful discussion. I just think it'd be a good idea to ban a couple of users lie ortofonchild who just contribute nothing.
Anyway, none of that really has to do with you, so sorry if it came off as though I was attacking you, I was just generally saying that I think maybe a few people on here (myself included) have not been as pro active as we could and have made excuses for people who are derailing the forum a bit.
