I know a lot of you will complain, but i support this.
e-puddles are just gross and the epitome of where bad rave stereotypes come from!!!

Yessssssss finally, thank god, my prayers have been answered. That shit is so embarassing when people across the country/world see that we still use lights. Hopefully massagers/pacifiers/backpacks/etc. are next to go

I used to love glowsticks, but back then it was more of a dance style than a way to entertain e-puddles (except for the occasional lightshow). Now it seems like lights are only ever used for the e-puddles. :/

Pacifiers were already banned at Nocturnal, iirc.

They went from a way to express and and enjoy yourself to a way to congregate hoards of people who are passing out from over medicating!
I like a little from time to time, but i hate walking across people hands that are layin on the floor.
The worst i've seen was people doing mud angels (like snow angels) at Pop.... WTF???

I would have to disagree with banning LED lights. It's an art form. Yeah it may cause "e-puddles" and stuff on the dance floor, but the best thing to do would to kick them out, or make them stand up. I personally give light shows more than i receive, but I don't do that many. I like to dance more, but it's always nice to meet people by trading shows, or just giving them to people. They have banned pacifiers and massagers, and that's a good thing because that has NOTHING to do with music. At least lights express music.

It's easier to cut down on them by not allowing them rather than just causing chaos by kicking people out or making them stand up (because they will just sit back down). Would be a security mess.

I have not seen a person or crew using glowsticks as an artform since probably when Spundae was at Circus and people would make circles around people doing crazy stuff with glowsticks in the back of the dancefloor.

When I see people "trading shows," it still just about always making each other roll balls. It's no artform.

Big fan of this rule. And it's only the attendees fault that this rule is being put into place. Promoters are getting to the point they are forced to. I have heard in some counties/cities (in redneck states), using glowsticks in clubs is illegal. Considered paraphernalia when used in clubs. I wish I remember where, was years ago when I was reading an article on it. ANyhow, just saying if anyone wants to be upset over this rule, it should only be people who do see it as an artform and use it in such a manner (and not to enhance drug use) and they should only be mad at the druggies who roll balls off the light shows. And not the promtoers

There are people who sit and practice for days and nights. It's not just waving your hands around. There are plenty of people that get shows when they are sober or just drink. I mean some of my friends enjoy light shows because it looks good and they don't even do ecstasy. Don't get me wrong, I can see where you are coming from, but i'm just standing up for what i believe in.

But what's done is done, only time will tell. Hopefully it won't be banned forever.

I love lights, and watching people who can use them exceptionally well, and I've never done E. To me it's just pretty, like watching the lighting effects put off by the club/stage.

But I can see why they're doing it. I just hope that awesome new tent from Nocturnal is going to be there, and used for the TRANCE DJs this time.

All of those are already banned...

the only one I will always disagree with is backpacks... I enjoy having a backpack on me when I'm going to any kind of festival. I don't have to carry my water in my hand, or my camera, keys, wallet, and cigarettes in my pockets.

i feel bad for the 'good' glovers cause they can entertain even the soberest person...

lol at people thinking their party's being taken away from them because they can't get lightshows anymore.

Dear Loyal Insomniac Fans,

We have spent considerable time and efforts in Insomniac meetings discussing the pros and cons of attendees giving LED light shows at Insomniac events. Although there are many who use these lights as an art form, the image that it creates when groups of music fans are sitting or lying on the floor gazing at the designs reflects poorly and sends a false message of what the electronic dance music scene is about. This image jeopardizes our ability to produce events, which we love and plan on doing for decades to come. In addition, local fire marshals have voiced their concerns about attendees sitting on the dance floor and will no longer tolerate the fire hazard that it creates.

We've made many efforts to keep this to a minimum by introducing the “Get Up and Dance Crew”. These teams were organized to roam around the festivals to encourage people to not lay or sit in designated dance areas or emergency walkways. Unfortunately, this wasn't as sufficient as needed.

In conclusion, LED lights and light gloves will no longer be allowed into Insomniac events until further notice.

Insomniac always strives to create a fun, music filled environment with state-of-the-art production and large-scale art installations that incorporate both artistic lighting and pyrotechnics. Our intentions are to keep the dance music scene healthy and respectable so we can continue to produce unique and memorable experiences for all of our fans to enjoy. For the time being, we ask that you please leave the light shows to us and contribute to the longevity of our beautiful scene.

Sincerely,

Insomniac

after that girl died at edc, they gotta clean up the festivals. theres already a lot of media attention and the city tried to ban them from using downtown.

its a shame cos I like the led light shows but I get why they gotta do it.

That statement only mentions LED and lightgloves. So are glowsticks still allowed?
