I can get deeply immersed in one thing, particularly music. I've always preferred listening to music while travelling: my tastes were formed as a teenager mainly through walking my dog. Running is an extension of that as it gives you nothing to focus on except the run and your music, and the run itself can give a sense of structure and narrative to match with the music.

Music is undoubtedly the single biggest factor in why I enjoy running. I simply couldn't do it without music.

Yeah, I don't really get amped for a run as much as I do the tunes I will listen to while doing it. I've often run farther and longer just so I wouldn't have to stop listening to a mix.

I as well, am far more excited about what I'll be listening to on my run as opposed to running. I think the reason I loved/love prog stuff so much is it's great for this; for me at least.

Also, upping my squat weight is proving... difficult. Might need to eat more.

Although a thought occurs... perhaps our discrepency comes from the different climates we inhabit? Running in the rare glimpses of blazing summer England has to offer is a hellish experience, and I can only imagine how hot it is at all times in a country cloaked in rainforest. You say you like running in the rain. In England, we just call that "running".

I'm so cold

There are a few really cool places (forests, etc) that I love running in for the scenery, but most of the time I just listen to my music and try not to think about the pain. Haven't gone for a run since I came to England, though.

im not huge on listening to music when im running. i dunno makes no diff to me. i guess its years of playing sports, my mind is more concentrated on the goal then just floating around looking at the scenery and listening to the music

When you grunt in movements, akin to an orchestral score, your body makes sweats so tremendous! I must make a say here, that when all of this is happening and your veins are in flux, there is a motion within all parts that simmers. And this is when a workout is a workout. When religion sets in through white-washed pupils. I can't find another set of muscles more toned than my chakras and in some subtle moments, my phallus. May God rest all his hands on me.

My shoes are only shoes when I am at a gymthing. I meet so many guys whose eyes are only for me. And this I can find disconcerting without the proper ratio of stern ligaments. A testament to my firmament I can say, only with sloppier gymshorts than in normaltimes. I can only say that this is an unfun time at the time that it happens. I make a handful of sweats come from my hinterlands. And this is when the marble floor gets unnecessarily slippery and my judgment rests on my calves and how supple they could be if only I made myself be more tender.
